A young man in his late 30s only identified as Ebo who has gained notoriety in stealing church offerings from local churches in the Central Region has finally been arrested.
Luck eluded the thief who blamed his thievery on hardship and said it is not his character when he was arrested by church members in his bid to outsmart them in yet another attempt to steal from the collection bowl.
“I am not a thief as you may be thinking. I just did it because I was hard up”, he confessed to his aggressors.
Ebo a week ago was captured in a video stealing money from the offertory bowl during collection time.
The thief who was captured by CCTV camera appeared to be putting his contribution into the offertory bowl but ended up dipping into what had already been put by others and stuffed the contents into his handkerchief.
He was later seen in another church trying to do same but was arrested cautioned and freed.
Guess this may have informed the reason some churches have now resorted to using locked boxes with perforated holes at the top as offertory bowls to avoid criminals from taking advantage of God’s house.

Hypocrisy at the highest...Who should help who. What do we do to ***barred word*** that comes to our home to steal, we beat and sometimes kill them, why don't we help them since they were doing it because they needed help. Who in his right sense will steal collection money the way this guy did. If he wanted help, he could have asked rather than steal. We welcome and help sinners when they are willing and ready to repent not this ***barred word***. He is only giving excuses that he did that because of financial difficulty. Personally disagree with the way they were humiliating him, but I don't think the guy needed help. They should hand him to the police.
they should have helped him out of his hardship
Those around him worse than the ***barred word***,why do you slap him in church?
Money is everything to the church today such that money is even taken over souls. What will Jesus do in this situation? Slap & ridicule or love and a message of salvation? Instead of showing love and caring about soul saving we are here behaving equally as unbelievers. Money seeking churches; your duty is soul winning. No wonder that all the messages today especially in Ghana makes it looks like you can't get anything from God until you pay money to the ' church or the so called men of God' Some of us are loosing Faith is the Church.
