New Overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom Ya-Na Mahama Abukari II says the brand new Jaguar presented to him immediately after his coronation was from a close friend.
There were reports the brand new car was gifted to the Ya-Na by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Speaking to TV3 on Saturday, Ya-Na Abukari II rejected reports that the car was presented owing to a formal request he made. Speaking through an interpreter, the paramount chief said the gift came as a surprise to him, hence his facial expression on Friday when it was presented.
He said he was excited by the gesture as he did not expect it. He, however, stopped short of mentioning the donor, saying it will be unfair to disclose his name in public, though the person is a close associate.
He said he has received gifts before, one of which is his Rolex watch.

Kwame take it easy. If you think and talk like this you are likely to cause trouble. What about that hand shake given by Kormla? I think the Ya Na is a man of humility and we should allow him to also function like a human being not a god. Even Jesus Christ has his garment touched; how about that? As for the Jaguar, believe it or not, it was given to him by a politician. I will not be surprised if it turns out to be Nana Ado. He is a wise king and so he will not disclose the giver.
Some of us thought Nana has started giving cars like toffee as been allegedly reported done by the previous administration head. Our apologies.
Kwame I agree with you ,the need legal ,communication and account department to address issues .This issue could have been addressed by the communication spokesperson for the royal house .They can do with retired lawyers , account s , communicator s of dagbon descent for now and develop those structure s.
***barred word***.why cabt you mention the name?
I think managers at Gbewa Palace should hold the office of Yaa Naa in high esteem. His watch should not have been touched by the journalist. The journalist should not cross his servants in fronts. In fact they should manage the Yaa Naa just like the Otumfour so that he can wield power and command authority.
