A Ghanaian living in South Africa has shared stories of how foreigners are being burnt alive on the streets in a recent xenophobic attack; a phenomenon which has received a lot of condemnation from several Africans.
"Right now, we even want to go home but we can’t because the roads have been blocked. So how do we go home; we can’t also return to our shops. We woke up in the morning and even saw one Nigerian lying dead on the street," Samuel Odoi narrated.
3 Ghanaians arrested
According to Samuel Odoi, after the attacks on foreigners started, South African Immigration officials stormed their house to run checks and this led to the arrest of three Ghanaians.
According to him, if no intervention is made, they will be deported.
"It was really bad this morning because Immigration officers came to arrest us. The officers who came unaware said they were checking ID cards. Three have been arrested," he disclosed.
Samuel who is praying for calm to be restored in South Africa added: "Currently, I wish I can return to Ghana."
