In all twenty-three (23) parliamemtary seats were for grabs in the Central Region on Saturday May 13, 2023 at the NDC Presidential and Parliamentary Primaries held across the country.
Elections at three of the constituencies; Gomoa Central, Effutu and Assin North were deferred for different reasons, while six seats were unopposed, including four incumbents and two orphan constituencies.
Agona East occupied by Sawyer Queenstar Pokuah, Awutu Senya West with Gizella Akushika Tetteh-Agbotui, Ajumako Enyan Essiam represented by Minority Leader Cassiel Ato Baah Forson and Upper Denkyira West in the grips of Daniel Ohene Darko were all unopposed. Assin Central and Upper Denkyira East, the two orphans represented by Nurien Shaibu Migyimah and Emelia Ankomah respectively also went unopposed.
The remaining fourteen(14) were all contested.

The Ndc should note that there has been a shift in the demographic of the central region. A lot of Npp voters the Kwahus, Ashantis, Akyems and Ahafos have immigrated to Kasoa, Swedru, Winneba and the villages in the central region near Accra. The traditional Fante left leaning votes that were cast for the Cpp, Pnp, the Ndc during the Rawlings’s time is gradually becoming less effective so the Ndc should revisit their traditional vice presidential slot for a Fante.
