In the wake of the controversy generated by the list of presidential staff, government sources have released a copy of the 2005 list presented to Parliament by President John Agyekum Kufuor.
The Presidency under John Kufuor in 2005 had 692 staffers compared to 678 staffers under current president John Mahama.
Kufuor's list included a Social Secretary to the President and swimming pool attendants.
The 2005 list failed to include the Ministers of State at the Presidency, the various sector Spokespersons under NPP, and did not also disclose staffers at the Office of Accountability which was established and operated under the Presidency.
Under current President John Mahama, the presidency has a staff strength of 678. It has been criticised as unreasonably large and an unnecessary drain on the public purse.
The former Chief of Staff under the Kufuor administration, Mr Kwadwo Mpiani said the figure is too high; it is job for the boys.
He claimed the state spends so much money to pay the salaries and wages of people in public service, and yet they complain of low wages.
Too many people who are doing nothing at the public sector...there is quite a number of them who do very little... about four people doing the work of one person, it cannot be done in the private sector, he noted.
The details of staffers under John Kufuor's administration is published:
