The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will today elect new executives to lead the party ahead of the Presidential and Parliamentary election in 2016.
Campaigning came to an end Friday and all the controversies that came with preparations for the Congress has come to an end.
According to Peace FM reporters, the security situation is good and some of the delegates and party functionaries are already at the Tamale sports stadium, waiting for voting to commence.
The roads have also been cleared to ensure that there is no unnecessary traffic jam.
Accreditation
The delegates, media men, and officials who wanted to enter the Tamale Sports stadium, Saturday morning had to join long queues for their accreditation.
In an interview with Perry Okudjeto, acting Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Metro TV, he indicated that "there were certain people who had brought machines to duplicate the accreditation just for people to fill up the stadium and that was why we decided to issue them out this morning"
He however assured that by the time voting commences, everybody especially the media would have received accreditation.
Hinting on the programme outline for the Congress, Perry said "there will be a welcome address by the Regional Chairman (NPP) which will be immediately followed by speeches from the Minority leader in Parliament and the National Chairman. Apart from that there will be fraternal messages and then a report on the state of the party..."
Now the question is which of the current executive will be maintained, which of them will be ousted and which new executive will come on board to ensure a victory for the party in the 2016 election.
