The Brong Ahafo Regional chairman aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Raphael Kubadzi, has accused the party leadership of dictatorship.
According to him, the partyοΏ½s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, during his vetting, shouted at him to οΏ½shut upοΏ½ when he wanted to make a contribution.
οΏ½When somebody has raised his hands during vetting and you tell the person that οΏ½Shut up! DonοΏ½t you know that you are speaking to a big man?οΏ½, as if you are appearing before a martial court. Is that how we treat democracy?οΏ½ he lamented.
Kubadzi was disqualified from the partyοΏ½s upcoming regional elections on Saturday.
According to him, the basis of his disqualification by the vetting committee of the party was unconstitutional and he has therefore decided to seek redress from the court.
On Eyewitness News, he claimed to have been endorsed by some persons in the party and was considered the best man for the position but was unlawfully disqualified.
He said NDC is close to his heart , οΏ½and I did not send the action to press conferences, I did not organize any press conference to wash our dirty linen. NDC believes in the rule of law.οΏ½
He cautioned that the NDC is a ruling party and must work towards staying in power in 2016.
Meanwhile, the NDC Deputy General Secretary George Lawson described the situation as οΏ½unfortunate, and it saddens my heart. Because of this development in the party, where members of the party have filed a suit.οΏ½
οΏ½I think what is happening is unprecedented in the history of the NDC because we should treat this matter as a family not as a public matter. It is not a public consumption,οΏ½ he advised.
