Reports reaching Peacefmonline.com indicates that the Parliamentary primaries of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asokwa constituency in the Ashanti Region has been halted.
Electoral commissioner in charge of the area insisted that one aspirant arrested must be released to witness proceedings of the election, Peacefmonline.com learnt.
Maxwell Kofi Jumah, former Member of Parliament for the Asokwa constituency and now an aspirant was arrested at the ongoing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries.
Mr. Kofi Jumah according to Peace FM’s correspondent in Kumasi, Sampson Nyamkye, Kofi Jumah torn the voter register on suspicion that it has been doctored to favour incumbent, Patricia Appiagyei.
Voting is currently on hold as party officials try to put things in order to bail the former NPP MP.
The NPP goes to the polls today to elect parliamentary candidates for the 2016 elections.
