Atik Mohammed has waded into discussions regarding government's conversion of Polytechnics into Universities.
Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Atik Mohammed urged the government to transform Polytechnics and technical institutions in the country into technology-based Universities.
According to him, the world has become globalized and so, it's prudent for the nation to compete on the global platform.
This, in his view, can be adequately achieved when Ghanaian students gain much knowledge in the use of technology to advance the economy.
He advised President John Mahama and his government not to only convert Polytechnics into Universities but rather Universities that will produce "technology gurus. Position us in such a stead that we can also compete globally."
He further cited that Polytechnics in a country like France have begun to award degrees with some even awarding PHDs; and so called on the government to take a cue.
