Three traders at Agbogbloshie have confirmed that, President John Mahama gave them GHC50 each during his campaign tour in the area last Thursday. The president has come under fire after a video of him sharing money to some traders at Agbogbloshie went viral.
While some people accused the president of vote buying, some government officials, including the Chief of Staff argued that, the President was probably sharing leaflets and not money as the video suggested .
Atinka News visited Agbogbloshie on Friday, September 23, 2016 to ascertain the veracity of the alleged claims .
Rebecca Kamasah, an egg seller confirmed that indeed, the President gave her money.
According to her, the president called her and gave her GHC50 after some men, who were struggling to catch a glimpse of the President, pushed her, leading to the destruction of her wares. Rahinatu Moro, an onion seller also confirmed that the president gave her GHC50 as compensation following the destruction of her wares during the struggle.
The accounts of the traders have exposed some government officials who claimed that the video may have been doctored to embarrass the president, who is currently in New York.

YES MAHAMA DID CONCOCT A STORY FAR FROM THE TRUTH TO LOOK LIKE A CARING MAN.THOSE TAKING 50 CEDIS MAHAMA STYLE MUST BEWARE.50 CEDIS WILL NOT LAST YOU A DAY AND THE NEXT 4 YEARS, YOU WILL BE STUCK IN YOUR POVERTY.WHY CANT SOME GHANAIANS THINK? THE NDC ONLY DECEIVES PEOPLE TO ENRICH THEMSELFS. CANT THEY SEE WHAT RAWLINGS DID TO THEM? SOMEONE WHO PROMISED THEM THAT HE HAD COME TO MAKE ALL THE POOR AND RICH THE SAME ONLY TO ENRICH HIMSELF AND THEN SENDING HIS CHILDREN TO SCHOOLS OUTSIDE GHANA.EH! GHANA ARE WE SO DAFT TO BE SO DECIEVED THAT WE CANT SEE? OKAY ,TIME WILL TELL.
I think thee President himself did not deny the story. He gave accurate account of what happened. What wrong has the president committed? You see paying or compensating for some ones accidentaly destroyed items is some thing any sensible person would do so let MAHAMA be wait!By that act he won a lot of peoples heart there as being a caring person if you don't know. You continoun to do campaign of distruction.
koliko your mother and your father plus all your family members are ***barred word*** and animals next time talk like a civilize Ghanaian...kwasiaakwa
This shows that our president gave a truthful account.
i will continue to say it,the npp is an aanimal farm and so anybody who belongs to that party is a capital aanimal, they simply refused to reason like normal human beings
I agree with those who say the president was sharing money. Indeed, he gave out GHC50.00 notes to the market women. I also agree with those who say the president was sharing leaflets. Indeed, today GHC50.00 is worth a leaflet in Ghana. We have lost our Democratic values, our social values, our educational values, our cultural values and leadership values. We have even lost the value of our currency. GHC 50.00 today equals a Leaflet. What a shame!!!!
how can this be described as money sharing? is that how to share money? npp pls give us a break. JM TOASO
I guess those making noise that the video was doctored by the opposition to tarnish the prez image can now ***barred word***. Always accusing the npp wrongly
