GENERAL SECRETARY of the defeated National Democratic Congress (NDC), Asiedu Nketia, has stated that his party would bounce back to power in 2020.
“We can win the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections if we do proper planning and good strategy,” he stated.
He admitted that the NDC had lost the 2016 national elections, saying the party could not oppose the will of the electorate.
The NDC chief scribe was talking to a section of the media before the Electoral Commission (EC) declared the results of the polls last Friday.
According to him, if the NDC strategized and managed its things properly, surely it could win the 2020 general election.
He said the NDC had no qualms over the defeat since it fought a good fight.
Mr Asiedu Nketia (known in political circles as General Mosquito) said there was no need crying over spilt milk, stressing the need for the NDC to accept its fate.
Deputy Power Minister John Jinapor, has indicated that President John Mahama’s main focus is to re-organise the NDC for the elections in 2020.
“I can tell you for a fact that the president’s pre-occupation now will be to ‘re-organise’ the party for the next general election,” he said on Joy FM’s News analysis programme, ‘Newsfile’ Saturday.
The Mahama-led NDC government was thumped at the polls last Wednesday, losing out to Nana Akufo-Addo who secured 53.85% of the total valid votes cast. He won the popular votes in six of Ghana’s 10 regions.
Mr Mahama’s party’s majority in parliament has been reduced significantly, with the NPP taking about 50 new seats in the 275-seat House.
In a post-election analysis on ‘Newsfile,’ veteran journalist Kweku Baako Jnr. encouraged President Mahama to have another shot at the presidency.
“I like him. He will be the best ticket for the NDC in 2020. Oh yes!” Baako stressed. The out-going president will be 62 years in 2020.

and yes I believe npp lost 2012 elections due to negligence per the statistics. i wonder where they(ndc) get all the votes to win an election but then i remember there is something call rigging which ndc is very good at if you give them the chance. compare the votes in 2012 with this election and you will see what I am talking abt. even the supreme court confirmed the rigging in favor of ndc in the 2012 elections. i am very happy with the vigilance of npp in this elections. where are the ple who voted for ndc in 2012? believe me npp only got a few of those votes. i am convinced with this kind of vigilance ndc is going to be in opposition forever. the worse part of it is that most of their top guys will be sent to jail and that will kill their momentum. God bless Nana Addo
with this kind of vigilance I dont see ndc coming to power ever again. I know they wanted to loose the elections themselves but were not expecting this kind of humiliation. they know the can not run the country anymore bcos they have stolen every pessewa and there is nothing more to ste..al. they just want the NPP to come back to power, get everything back on track and find their way back to power to mess it up again. but God will now allow such to happen anymore. i know mahama is happy he is handing over a collapsed Ghana to Nana but he will be laughing at the wrong side of his mouth bcos God will see Nana through it. he will make turn things around for this country and God willingly ndc will never come to power again. mark my words. I hope Nana will give us the true state of the nation within his first 100 days in power. bcos the expectations are very high on him and he must tell us where we are as a nation. i personally dont expect him to do much within the next 4 years but he has to let everyone know the situation we are in. its going to be tough but i still believe in the team he is going to work with. The good Lord is with you Nana! You are indeed God's chosen
Finally the ndc will learn to respect the electorate, you cannot win elections by propaganda, fallacies, corruption and incompetency. They should rather think of 2032 or beyond because will never create the vacuum for them to mess up again. "NEVR AGAIN" and good bye.
ndc pls stop dreaming 2020 for the where. at least Ghanaians will consider u in 8 yrs that is if npp are able to do well it will go beyond 8 yrs.Ghanaians wil allow npp for the next 8 yrs to realise all the promises. mark it.i tell u it is not easy to be in opposition.
IN 2012 NDC "WON" BY 5,248,898. IN 2016 THEY HAD 4,457,672, A LOST OF 1.1 MILLION VOTES. IN 2012 NPP HAD 5,248,888 VOTES AND 5,341,143 IN 2016, AN INCREASE OF ONLY 92,245. THUS THE NDC VOTES LOST IN 2016 DID NOT COME TO THE NPP. WHERE DID THOSE VOTES GO? APARTY OR GHOST VOTES? YOU WILL NEED TO RESURRECT THOSE GHOSTS IN 2020
TRY AND WAKE UP FROM YOUR DREAMS.
JDM, coming back to do what. share v8, increase ghana debt again .No way. God will not let it happen
With all their retirement packages for Nana Addo, if they could not retire him then they must forget 2020.
....2020? Forget NDC. The Ghanaian voter knows that it is from 8years to 8years. NDC lost not because Mahama didn't do roads and other infrastructure, they lost because we know its 8yrs to 8yrs simple.
@ABAABI REMEMBER THE NPP MADE JUICY PROMISES. ONE VILLAGE ONE DAM, ONE VILLAGE ONE FACTORY, ONE DISTRICT ONE MILLION DOLLARS AND SO ON. THEY NOW HAVE TO DELIVER ON THIS. IT WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT AND WE HAVE AN IMPATIENT POPULACE. IF IT IS NOT DELIVERED IN PARTICULAR IF INROADS ARE NOT MADE TO THIS END IN THE FIRST TERM, THERE WILL BE TROUBLE. ALSO IF THOSE WHO DID NOT TURN UP TO VOTE FOR THE NDC STILL DO NOT DO SO, THE NPP WILL HAVE IT A BIT EASY. HOWEVER IF THEY TURN UP TO VOTE NEXT TIME AND THE PROMISES ARE EVEN NOT HALF FULFILLED, THE NPP WILL BE IN SERIOUS TROUBLE. ANALYSING THE ELECTION RESULTS YOU WILL REALISE THAT NDC LOST BUT NPP DID NOT WIN. A WHOOPING ABOUT 4.7 MILLION DID NOT BOTHER TO VOTE. MANY OF THESE WERE IN THE NORTHERN REGIONS, VOLTA AND PARTS OF WESTERN REGION OR SO. MOST OF THESE ARE NDC STRONGHOLDS. FINALLY SOME MISTAKES NDC MADE, HIGH ELECTRICITY TARIFFS, HEAVY TAXES, SCHOOL FEEDING MONIES NOT REACHING NEEDED AREAS, CUT IN NURSING ALLOWANCES, PETROL PRICES WILL NOT GO AWAY ANYTIME SOON. THE PERCEPTION OF CORRUPTION BY THE NDC DOES NOT GO AWAY IN OUR SOCIETY. IT TAKES ONE JOURNALIST TO REPORT INCIDENCE OF PERCEIVED CORRUPTION (ASK KUFFOUR) THEN AKUFFO ADDOS TOP WILL BE BLOWN. MIND YOU THEY BASED THEIR CAMPAIGN MESSAGE HEAVILY ON THIS WITH THE HELP OF MARTIN AMIDU AND RAWLINGS. IT WILL NOT BE EASY FOR THE NPP AS YOU CLAIM.
