President John Mahama will deliver his final state of the Nation Address to Parliament on January 5, 2017 at 10 am.
According to a statement signed by the Deputy Director of Public Relations of Parliament, Kate Addo; the President will exercise this duty in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution. The address was earlier tabled for Thursday 22nd of December 2016. President Mahama will address the nation on the state of affairs two days before his exit from power on January 2017.
The statement said: “The Parliament of Ghana wishes to inform the citizenry that as per the requirements of article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, the Sitting President of the Republic will deliver an address on the State of the Nation to the people of Ghana through the 6th Parliament of the Republic of Ghana. The address which was earlier tabled for Thursday 22nd of December 2016, will now be on Thursday 5th of January 2017 at 10.00 prompt.” President Mahama was expected in Parliament on Thursday to deliver the address but checks by Citi News suggested that the address had been postponed as Parliament’s Business Statement, which captures details of activities of Members of Parliament within the week, made no provision for the President’s address. His address will herald the end of the life of the 6th Parliament of the fourth Republic which will officially be dissolved on January 6, 2017.
The final State of the Nation address is in fulfillment of Article 67 of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution which states that the President shall, at the beginning of each session of Parliament and before a dissolution of Parliament, deliver to Parliament a message on the state of the nation.”

@esi your smelly pu$$y ok...malafaka girl
To Esi or any deluded citizen still in state of denial. How can anyone in their right mind want these guys back again? It is not about politics, Esi - ***barred word***, Its the Economy. When Kuffour took over after the 1st transition, the PNDC/NDC ***barred word*** brigade had ***barred word*** mother Ghana so dry that barely 2 months of liquidity was available to pay civil servants to keep the state in a semblance of operating. They laughed and scoffed - we'll see how they will pay salaries. Kuffour had NO choice than to file for bankruptcy and crave the indulgence of our creditors. On a clean sheet, he left office having created a debt load of about $8bn in 8 years. Enter Mills/Mahama and the babies with sharp teeth headed by Fiifi kwake julor who could even boast he stole the elections for NDC. At this juncture, NDC and ***barred word*** propaganda have created a debt load of over $25bn - $16bn more than Kuffuor did within the same period representing over 200! increase with NO improvements in our lives. On the contrary, businesses have to downsize or sold at loss to stem financial hemorrhage because we are paying $0.48 per kilowatt hour of commercial electricity when the same unit goes for less than 12 US cents in the Ivory Coast. Even after we discovered oil and world market prices are around the $50 mark, we still pay more for oil and energy after contracting these huge loans. Where did the monies go? Over invoicing - no more 10/15% commission, the ***barred word*** simply STOLE state monies inflating costs to 100% minimum and more. Remember the power plant which cost $200m and ended up costing $500m to taxpayers - increasing the cost of capital to ECG and translating into higher operational costs and higher tariffs to the detriment of industries and employment? Mahama's brother was BROKE when NDC came to power. He still owed Merchant Bank $mm. With no way to pay up, they concocted a stealing plan - sell Merbank to SA bank use the inflated commissioned to write off monies owed the same bank and still keep some hefty "profit"on the side. What business? Stealing is their business. Give me one example of self-made industrialist who follows these "steelers". Not one! All these monies made by raping mother Ghana would be retrieved one way or the other. These guys are SO DUMB they cannot even cover their tracks. A bunch of dumbos led by their robber-in-chief Drossmani Atupahene who lives in a state of denial and cannot even count money - because he never made cash himself. Cash meant for his own people so deprived like other regions ended up elsewhere and he found nothing wrong?
What at all does NPP illiterates want from JM? JM's brother made all his money before JM came to power so what is this attack? You're all full of bitterness even after we voted for NPP. Four years is soon around the corner. You haven't taking power yet, but you're fighting yourselves. Let's watch and see. Ghanaians must braze themselves well. Hmmmm
