The Vice President-elect, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will fully restore the allowances of nurse and teacher trainees.
According to him, the payment of the allowances would be captured in the 2017 budget of the NPP government.
The NPP’s pledge to provide $1 million every year to each constituency is still feasible and the party would fulfill it in 2017, he added.
Dr. Bawumia also reiterated that the one-village one-dam policy of the NPP would be implemented in the first year of the Nana Addo administration.
He said the NPP administration would create jobs for the teeming youth in the country.
Dr Bawumia disclosed this when he and the President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo paid a courtesy call on the Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, Nayiri Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga at his palace in Nalerigu.
Dr. Bawumia was optimistic supporters of other political parties would vote for the NPP in 2020 because the NPP has the best policies to develop the country.
The renowned economist also assured the people of the Mamprugu area that the road from Nalerigu to Bunkpurugu would be completed by the NPP administration.
He thanked the former District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area Peter Wuni and the council of elders for contributing immensely to the success of the party in the December polls.
Dr. Bawumia applauded the youth and the good people of Mamprugu for voting massively for the NPP.
He promised Ghanaians that the NPP would work hard to deliver on their promises and improve the lives of the citizens.
President-Elect Nana Addo was accompanied by former Northern Regional Minister Prince Imoro Andani, MP-elect for Nalerigu Hajia Alima Mahama, MP for Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo Solomon Boar and other party executives from the region.
Nayiri Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga prayed for the President-elect Nana Addo and Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia to succeed in office.
He said the President-elect won the elections through hard work and determination, urging him to remain focused.
The chief advised the President-elect to monitor his appointees to effectively steer the affairs of the country and pledged to offer support to him.

IT IS GOOD THAT NPP HAS COME TO POWER WITH A CHANCE TO IMPLEMENT THEIR PROGRAMMES. THAT IS WHY GHANAIANS VOTED FOR YOU. HOWEVER I DON'T LIKE THE RATIONALISATION OF SOME OF THE SPOKES PERSONS OF TE PARTY. THEYV ARE IN EFFECT DENYING SOME OF THE PROMISES. SOME ARE TRYING TO SAY THEY NEVER SAID THEY WILL BUILD ONE FACTORY IN EVERY DISTRICT BUT IT WAS SOMETHING ELSE. WE KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FACTORY AND A COTTAGE PROCESSING OPERATION. SURELY THE ECONOMIC PROWESS OF DR BAWUMIA, OSAFO MARFO, OFORI ATTA & CO WILL BE TESTED AND THIS WILL NOT BE CLASSROOM ECONOMICS BUT APPLIED ECONOMICS. ITS NOT AS IF I'LL BE JOYFUL IF THEY FAIL BECAUSE ANY FAILURE WILL AFFECT ME BADLY BUT I AM NOW ENJOYING DEMOCRACY IN MY MOTHERLAND. THE SCRUTINY IS HEARTWARMING. AS THE NDC GOT ARROGANT AND MISPLACED THEIR PRIORITIES, THEY WERE BOOTED OUT RIGHTLY SO NOW OVER TO YOU NPP. IF YOU MESS UP YOU WILL BE BOOTED OUT AS THOSE WHO STAYED AWAY FROM VOTING FOR NDC ARE ON STAND BY AND CAN EASILY EXERCISE THIER DEMOCRATIC POWER IN THEW NEAR FUTURE. THANK YOU.
You should be educated that, salary increases that has no economic basis will lead to inflation and consequently have zero effect on individuals' purchasing power.
If John mahama want to come back to power easily, he should increase the pay of the judiciary as well as the security services before he goes. If he is able to give huge increases to the police, military and judges, his chances of coming back would be brighter. I beg him to do this before 7 January. This is very important.
So after all there is enough money for implementation of all these policies, when then are you trying to tie the hands of the current president from doing his constitutional duties. If there is adequate resources to do all these in the first year of your government then stop blaming the government for increasing workers pay as well as uncreasing national service allowances. If I were president mahama, I will restore the training college allowances and increase its by huge margins at the same time since the npp are ready to do it any way. If the president likes he can redeem most of the promises npp have made and force it on their throat to deliver by force.
It makes no sense to you but not to some of us and thank God your government will not be the one to implement these policies. A government that successfully implemented the NHIS will be in charge so wait and see. Since Nkrumah's era every government has paid the nursing and teacher training allowances so what went wrong for your government alone to deviate from this norm.
There has never been any government in Ghana that has not been been tagged with corruption. It will be very very difficult for any objective person to think that Nana and his administration will only rely on their salaries alone having been in opposition for 8 years and running campaigns with their own money. The noise we have been hearing of Mahama administration concerning corruption will not be any different from Nana government. The most important thing is if the money is used to develop the nation for the benefit of all, Mahama did well on that. If Nana will continue with where Mahama has stopped it will benefit Ghana very much than coming to share moneys to constituencies and teachers/nurses trainees. Just employ people into Mahama infrastructures and add more infrastructures. That is the solution that promising nurses and teacher trainees and well as million dollars for constituencies. it make no sense
@Nunu if Nana Addo can really check corruption and mismanagement in his administration he can really do all the things he has promised with the help of the people of Ghana. There was a lot of waste in this administration if we put our party's affiliation aside. My doubt is simple. Corruption is now in our ''DNA''.
The so called world's best economist Bawumiah will soon be tested. Talking from outside is very easy, we can all promise everything but the truth is that we are not in government to know the reality. When I was in Ghana I used to argue that if I just get to the US I will build several houses in just 2 years, now I have been here in Abroad for 15 years, ask me how many houses have I built? sometimes I look at Dr. Bawumiah and I feel it for him, he is bringing an unnecessary pressure upon himself which he will later find it difficult to defend, he should remember in government you don't work alone your ideas may not not suit to all cabinet members, some have ways of dragging you down. "A word to the wise is enough".
@Mohammed, you will soon vanish from this forum, a country is not ruled by mouth and mere projections, Bawumiah has never ruled a country before, he is making his promises base on assumptions like he did with the Togo register. He will know the reality when he gets in there. From outside you can promise everything you want. Common sense should tell you that you can not cut down drastically taxes and a developing nation, goes on to give nearly everything free free free and then turn back to expect a robust economy, it just can not work. You will question your words number economist Bawumiah. I rest my case.
Just do it and stop the noise on what you haven't done yet. Or you think say you dey campaign platform top?
