“It has been a rare honour and a privilege for me to serve my country in the highest office as President. It has been a worthwhile journey and let me cease the opportunity to thank God for His Grace and to the good people of Ghana for the opportunity to serve you.”
These where the introductory words of President John Dramani Mahama as he addressed Parliament on the State of the Nation on Thursday morning as part of processes to end his tenure and that of the sixth Parliament of Ghana.
“May I also respectively thank my Vice President, Mr Speaker, Her Ladyship the Chief Justice and Honourable Members of this House [Parliament] for the cooperation and solidarity I have enjoyed during my tenure as President,” he said.
The purpose of the State of Nation address as stipulated in the constitution is to let the people of Ghana know where the country stands, as the baton of leadership pass from one leader to another, where the country was in so far as nation building was concerned and how the country was faring as compared to other nations in Africa and the world.
He said the world has increasingly become very complex one and unpredictable as majority of economies as sailing against strong winds with a resultant effect on commodities.
President Mahama despite all these Ghana’s economy was still the second best in Africa with US$39million GDP.

Now the prez is telling us that he respects NANA ADO and how they were good friends in parliament?after mocking and making all sort of evil comments about him and calling him names{OPANAA}now i see that the very simply option to humble a politician is to vote his party out of POWER!!!WELL DONE GHANAIAN
I would not say my English is the best but Peacefmonline/Graphic-online.com you've got to live up to the editorial standard. The word is "seize" as used in the line "let me cease this opportunity to thank God..."in the opening paragraph. Then again you need to be up and doing in your proof-reading as I believe you meant to write "are" instead of "as", as used in the passage, "...majority of economies as sailing against strong winds" in the last but one paragraph. Now in as much as you censor commentaries on your articles, I do not believe so much is done to check the sanity of comments posted by some people. It's unfortunate most youth think to be heard, you must be a brute and uncultured, insulting every Tom, ***barred word*** and Harry who dares to share a different opinion of theirs. This is how low, unguarded and irresponsible we as a people have become. It's equally sad to find such in the mosques, the churches and other place of worship. So I ask is that what is being taught in the house of God. I weep for mother Ghana. Shame on those who think the best way to disagree is to insult.
My english is not the best but i want to ask that, the use of insults in good english are taught in schools or what? I thought it is taught we all know this by nature that sheep comes out of sheep only and not the eagle. What you say is you and not the one you think you saying to. we can change.
history will forever remember you because you haf simply travel very well in ur journey to the highest office of de land God bless you sir
Honour and privilege to serve! N0nesense!!! Privilege to enrich yourself, family and cronies at the expense of ordinary Ghanaians. Thank God Saturday is just around the corner.
IT IS ONLY TIVES WHO WILL DEFEND MAHAMA`S TIVERY. MAHAMA MUST GO WITH HIS AMERI POWER PLANT. WE CANNOT CONTINUE TO PAY $10 MILLION TO MAHAMA`S AMERI. AMERI IS MAHAMA`S PRIVATE BUSINESS AND MUST BE INVESTIGATED
You appears to be bitter. So you don't want the good people of Ghana to choose who should be their leader.Note that we are going to have situations very often so don't be bitter and move on.
IF YOU DOUBT IT JUST CHECK AND STOP THE STUPIIIIID NPP ATTITUDE YOU ARE EXHIBITING HERE. WHEN YOU GUYS REALISE THE MISTAKE YOU HAVE MADE IT WILL DEFINITELY TAKE A TOLL ON EVERYONE. JUST BRACE YOURSELF FOR THE IMPACT AHEAD.
