Former President Jerry John Rawlings has extend an olive branch to the Accra Mayor two days after he humiliated him in public. Observing the dissolution of Ghana's sixth Parliament on January 6 midnight, the former leader walked to Alfred Oko Vanderpuiye to reconcile with him.
Former President Rawlings embarrassed the now Ablekuma South MP when the two met in the house whiles attending former President John Mahama's last State of the Nation Address in the house.
The whole episode started when the former Accra Mayor attempted to talk to the former President when he was walking on the red carpet.
In the video that went viral on social media, Former President Rawlings was seen trying to tell the then mayor to stop interfering with his movement on the carpet.
Watch video of that embarrassing incident below:
This caused the now MP to stay off the former President. The mayor has since been the subject of public ridicule.
However, the former President who was at the first sitting of the 7th Parliament of Ghana went to approach the MP who was seated on the floor and apologised to the MP.
It is still not clear what was discussed by the two but they were seen on national TV greeting one another after the chat.
Below is the video of Mr Rawlings sitting beside the MP and attembting to patch up with him:

Naa, Rawlings was telling him that what he did breached protocol. If look at the video very carefully , watch Oko's hand , he is is the rather apologising, you can see him begging with his hands. Watch it carefully.
the apology is not trending as much as the snub. four comments here, 60 over there. so everyone 15 people who saw the shoosh, only one has noticed there's been an apology. oh we do love our bad news.
Rawlings is just doing that after the backlash from people that he did not do well as a former president. Well, better late than ever!

Their own song says "come back to me" so why not. If they want a future that is the way. Otherwise they risk becoming defunct. A party that has won power before but will never win again.
Good move
