The Member of Parliament for Bodi constituency and a member of the Appointments Committee in Parliament, Sampson Ahi says the Minority has rejected the Minister-designate of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisah Djaba for recommendation to the plenary.
“There is a general consensus for us in the Minority not to support Otiko because of her posturing before the committee and her response to some questions that were asked her during vetting yesterday. Off-course her approval will be by the majority when it comes to the floor for consideration,” Mr. Ahi told Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM Wednesday.
The MP said they will register their position for the public to know why the nominee was rejected by the minority members on the committee.
Gender Minister-designate Otiko Afisa Djaba who faced the vetting committee yesterday was in the news for several controversial issues that popped up at vetting Tuesday.
Her refusal to apologise to former President John Dramani Mahama for some “distasteful” comment she made against her prior to the 2016 election is undoubtedly one of the topical issues that might have dimmed her chances to be supported by the NDC minority side on the committee.
She’s reported to have upheld her earlier comments that Mr. John Mahama was “Wicked” and an “embarrassment” due to his inability to develop the three Northern country where he comes from.

Is that what this vetting is dll about. Anybody who called Mahama corrupt and doesn't retract will not be approved by the minority. Ndc if Mahama is your god he is not to the rest of us. Ndc wake up from your slumber oo tome. Na opposition you dey. Otis bless sef you approve am. Naaansins
Minority can have their say but the majority will always have it's way. Is not what you told NPP when they were the minority? What's a big deal about this. If Oti Blessed and a dining hall prefect can be approved for a ministerial positions why no Otiko Djabah? They will have their way regardless.
Akoa yi din ne ne honam s3 your name is ahi and really wo ho nwo y3 ahi
Let me ask Hon Ayariga if Otiko Gyaba too has paid any bribe.
All of a sudden Okudzato was shocked and saddened . I could see his countenance change by that remark. He quickly veered off that line of questioning to something better.
Some of these NDC MPs are so F00OLISH. Sad for Ghana Parliament. Vetting is not the time to settle scores. Look at Okudzato's questions, No Wisdom at all. it's like he's doing Student Politics.
'Akoa yi anim ye ahi!
Ahi, are you doing politics or vetting in national interest? Even with your very, very, very bad English you became a minister. This will be a bad precedence is you can come and tell the whole nation this news. Do you people understand vetting and the aims of vetting or you are on the committee because you are a parliamentarian and have been allocated to the committee? I weep for mother Ghana.
THIS IS BECAUSE NDC AND IT'S MINORITY WANTED OTIKO TO LIE BUT SHE STOOD FIRM, WHICH POSTURE ARE THEY REFERRING TO? IT IS GOOD TO BE SINCERE THAN LIE. WHETHER AGREED OR NOT SHE WILL BE APPROVED FOR HER TO COME SERVE MOTHER GHANA BUT YOU DON'T AGREE NEVER,IN YOUR DREAMS WILL NDC MINORITY BE ASKING HER QUESTIONS IN THE NATIONAL INTEREST SHOULD THAT DAY COME.
Is Mahama God? Was he also not campaigning and making mockery of people all over the place? Do not approve her. The majority will approve her. Do not use the vetting as platform to punish people. But for something I do not see how some of you are members of the Appointment Committee. Has Mahama ever apologized for naming people Opana The ex Vice President went to challenge nature for saying short people are challenged that tis why they are not seeing developments.
