Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Marfo has condemned critics who have argued that government is running away from its promises.
He has argued that government has not spent up to a year in office and the tenure of the president is four years, hence promises made by government are to be fulfilled within that period.
“Every political party has a four-year cycle. We have done a one-year budget out of four, so, if I make 10 pledges and in one budget I fulfil six and [then] you say I am running away from pledges?” he questioned.
He said the manifesto presented by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is a four-year manifesto and going forward “we will tackle other problems”.
For him, “if anyone thinks that all the pledges by government will be fulfilled in one year, then you are being utopian”.
He was responding to issues raised by the Minority and other commentators over problems not addressed in the budget presented by the Finance Minister recently.
In an interview with Accra-based Joy FM on Friday, 10 March, Mr Osafo Marfo was optimistic the Akufo-Addo government will fulfil most of its campaign promises.

Mr. Osafo Maafo, just relax. It took NDC 8 years to create the mess we are in today. And they say what? NPP must take a year to fix all the mess? NDC has no shame otherwise they will be quiet. It's good they are infuriating those of us who voted them out more with their bigotry and negative posture. Mr. Osafo Maafo, we are too wise for NDC propaganda which had never worked unless they steal electiion. Just relax Osafo. Just relax and do the job. You guys are on the right path.
We hope this time you are not just thinking aloud. Hope you are talking policy. Akooo te brofo
We know NPP is going to use this year for Ghana @ 60. They can find money for that but cant find money to fulfil their promises. Ye be fa no saa
Too much talking will kill these NPP functionaries. This is the same man who said heritage fund was to be used for free SHS and later established that it had not been accepted. He saying this today and if it doesn't happen then Ken ofori atta be in trouble. Anyways, who is the finance minister? Competence paaaaaaaa nie.
How can a country saddled with a debt of GHC122b expect her gov't to use the first year to fulfill all its promises. What kind of irrationality is that?
Ghanaian politicians are all the same. They all have many promises in their manifesto but cannot deliver any one of them. The NPP government is suffering from a policy quagmire. Its ministers are incompetent just like Mahama,s ministers. These guys only play stomach politics at the expense of the country. After 60 years, Ghana cannot even tame inflation. Just like the USA ambassador said 'how can Kotoka airport be so expensive yet we cry for investors to come to Ghana. How can a Ghana visa from USA take over a week or two before one can travel to Ghana? These are structural problems that Ghanaian politicians are aware of but just refuse to solve because they are too lazy or it is not a priority. This monkey behavior by Ghanaian politicians is what is killing the Motherland. There is no vision whatsoever aside from stealing from the public purse. There is corruption everywhere and that has become part of the Ghanaian culture. Government business has turned into family business. People use government asset to benefit themselves and their families. From one political party to another , the outcome is still the same.Is it a Black Man's mentality?
Empty promises coming back to haunt you.
Hahahahahah pressure ooo pressure. Osarfo marfo what have you seen? transport fairs are currently rising and you said what? cedi is now 1000km away from dollar, passengers are fighting drivers at various transport points and you sitting there saying what? get to work and stop this unpardonable excuses mr man. Competent men at work hahahahaha. Call dr Bawumia to help you since he is the chief economics for you people
NPP executives and parliamentarians must elect the MMDA Chiefs after the nominees complete vetting procedure. Ghana is bigger than Accra. Akufo-Addo must spend more time working. Certain activities interfere with the work of the President. The transition is still not complete. As a consequence there is power vacuum in some areas. The activities of some criminals are going unchecked. Some positions have been abandoned. These should have been filled by Akufo-Addo a long time ago. There are cadres and former appointees occupying bungalows and flats waiting for Akufo-Addo to assign them to new officials.
Do not let those evil men distract you. they used 8 years to mess everything up and they want you to use 2 months to fix all so that they will find a way to come back and mess it again. but it will not happen in Jesus name. just ignore them and do the best for the country. remember the NPP will be in power at least for the next 20 years. all they need to do is to remain focus and not get distracted by those evil group of ple called ndc. they just want to show to their supporters that they are doing something but what they dont know is that most of their supporters have even lost confidence in them. just ignore them.
