The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Portuphy, has alleged that the former governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Abdul Nashiru Issahaku, was forced to resign by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration led by President Akufo-Addo.
According to him, the NPP after it assumed office in January, had forced several professional public servants to resign in order to fill their positions with party loyalists.
“Since the assumption of office, the Akufo-Addo administration has forced several professional public servants out of their offices, and replaced them with loyalist party members… A typical example is the manner in which the governor of the Bank of Ghana has been prevented from completing his term of office and has been forced to resign prematurely,” said.
The Central Bank Governor, Dr. Abdul Nashiru Issahaku, resigned from his post in March, citing personal reasons for the move.
He had served as governor for barely a year, after taking over from his predecessor, Dr. Henry Wampah, who also resigned in April 2016. Barely a day after his resignation, his replacement was announced.
Some industry players had said they suspected there was more to the resignation yet could not give details.
But addressing the press on happenings in the country after 3 months of the Nana Addo administration, the NDC Chairman was emphatic, that the governor was forced to resign by the incumbent government, as part of efforts to remove heads of various government institutions who worked under the Mahama government.
The NDC Member of Parliament for the Keta Constituency, had also in a recent interview on Eyewitness News, alleged that the Governor was forced to resign by the new government.
NDC blasts clergy, CSOs for ‘silence’ on post-election violence
Kofi Portuphy also at the press conference, chastised Civil Society Organizations and Clergy for not publicly condemning post-election violence it alleged were carried out by pro-NPP groups.
According to him, these groups hitherto “found it necessary to condemn every action of the previous NDC government” but have been silent in the past months.

Three months into npp administration and look at the improvement of the economy and NDC wants to come back? U think Ghanaians are ***barred word*** eh? U are using the same ***barred word*** faces in ur front line. People like Kofi koku ablakwa and mahama should be back office materials
They have started their propaganda. NDC nothing to offer Ghanaians. Instead of NDC concentrating on how to rebuild their party, they rather spewing falsehood. You will fail again in 2020. NPP is doing very well. The Cedi is now stable, fuel prices are dropping, taxes have been reduced, interest rate is going down. NDC couldn't do any of these. Ghanaians are intelligent people and they know that kofi porturphy is lying. You are opposition bound in 2020. You want Ghanaians to give you another chance to come and create loot and share no! It will never happen again. You want another chance to come and steal, this time around no. I score Nana Addo 90 percent. However Nana Add should try and stop the chaotic attitude of the vigilante groups. This is his only negative since assuming office but he has done well compared to ndc eight years in government
I was about to call him tupac portuphy or even Rambo, but that would be dishonoring the memory of Tupac shakur and Sylvester Stallone! This leather-faced fried boflot is looking for serious trouble! The man said he resigned because he wanted to and you usurp him and claim to know better!
PORTUPHY AND NDC ARE THE WRONG PEOPLE TO TELL US SACKING PEOPLE FROM OFFICE IS WRONG. NDC HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR OVER 20 YEARS. EVEN TOILET OVERSEERS, NDC SACK THEM WHEN THEY COME TO POWER. CONCENTRATE ON BUILDING YOUR PARTY AND IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING WISE TO SAY JUST SHATAP!
Is it his real face or a mask???
This man is not serious. how did you get your job as NADMO boss? did Late Mills not boot out DCOP Akrofi Asiedu before handing over the job to you?
Did Nashiru think he should still have been the Governor of BoG? Did Portuphy ask him that question before uttering these jokingly joking jokers comments about his(Nashiru's)resignation? If he didn't he should ask him, Ghanaians are asking him, if he still thought he should be the Governor of the BoG? Portuphy should ask him that question if he didn't and come back with better particulars. And Kofi" NADMO Delta Force" Portuphy should be the very last person on this planet to be talking about violence in this country.
If Dr. Nashiru told you he was forced to resign, then he must be another incompetent person. I think he said he was not forced by anybody. If he is around, he must come out to clear his good name, otherwise it will be used against him in future.
NDC WILL LOOSE TEN TIMES ELECTIONS AND WILL NEVER LEARN FROM IT
