The 2016 presidential candidate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, has charged President Nana Akufo-Addo to put in place stringent measures that will curb the rot in the public sector rather than just highlighting them.
Nana Akufo-Addo, addressing workers at the May Day parade, charged them, especially those in the public sector, to eschew their lackadaisical attitude to work and be effective.
“I have said it at another forum, but I think it bears repeating: we arrive at work late and then spend the first hour in prayer; we are clock watchers and leave in the middle of critical work, because it is the official closing time. Everything comes to a stop when it rains and we seem to expect the rest of the world also to stop,” the President said.
He continued: “We have no respect for the hours set aside for work… we pray, we eat, we visit during working hours. We spend hours chatting on the telephone when customers are waiting to be served, thereby increasing our labour costs. We take a week off for every funeral. And then we wonder why we are not competitive.”
However, speaking to Class News on the sidelines of a Private Universities Students’ Association of Ghana (PUSAG) seminar on how to become a successful entrepreneur, Dr Nduom called on Nana Akufo-Addo to map out effective strategies to fix the problem.
“If a leader will come in front and come and lament that there is problem 1, 2, 3, 4, who is to solve it? So I don’t believe in that. I believe that you are put there because things are tough. So I’d prefer you’d tell me the president stood somewhere and said this is what I’m going to do or this is how I’m going to lead you to resolve this problem...” he stated.

RULING A NATION IS NOT LIKE MANAGING GROUP NDUOM.
You Npp people crucifying Dr Ndoum which of you can tell us that ghanaians don't know what H E Nana Addo is talking about. We all know what goes on at the ministries, we don't need HE Akuffo Addo to tell us what we know already. He promised to solve problems and not tell us what we know already. He should tell us how he is solving them. He should crack the weep. Set examples for us to know he is arresting this canker
I like Dr Nduom but his politics confuses me. he talks out of envy and does not consider the viewpoint of others. It is like he alone have answers to everything. How can a problem be solved if we do not identify the problem and talk about it first. ?
PAA, STOP THE UNWARRANTED VERBAL ASSAULT ON SUCH A RESPONSIBLE GOVERNMENT. WHAT AND WHERE IN GHANA ARE YOU LIVING THAT TELLING GAHNAIANS WHAT THIS CORRUPT/ IRRESPONSIBLE MAHAMA ADMINSTRATION DID CONSTITUTE IRRELEVANT COMPLAINING? FORMER PRES. KUFFUOR'S NPP ADMINISTRATION FAILED TO REMIND/TELL GHANAIANS WHAT THE "DO-NOTHING" AND RECKLESS RAWLINGS ADMINISTRATION DID AND THAT WAS THE REASON WHY JJ WENT AROUND TO POISON SOME GHANAIANS TO RE-ELECT THEM (NDC) IN 2008. NANA ADDO AND THE NPP MUST PREACH THE NDC ***barred word***, STEALING, UNNECESSARY SPENDING,SHODDY PROJECTS,DISCRIMINATION, ETC BECAUSE SOME GHANAIANS HAVE SHORT/WATER MEMORY.....AGAIN, IF PAA NDUOM SEES THIS AS COMPLAINING, SO BE IT....
AND YOU THINK YOURS IS BETTER, YOU HAVE SOLD GHANA TO FREEMASONRY TO BE A PRESIDENT AND THE RESULT IS WHAT WE ARE SEEING, ACCIDENT, FIRE, PEOPLE DYING ETC FOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I am someone who admire Dr NDUOM but he didn't speak well. He was just doing politics like NDC general secretary and his deputy Koku. How can you solve this deep seated attitudes towards work of many Ghanaian workers in 100 days without talking about them first? You must let people know what is bad or going bad and then if they have conscience they stop. You then put in measures to stop those who don't want to stop. Paa Akwesi, it takes generation to change attitudes.
Kufour made u Dr Nduom minister for public sector reforms. What did u achieve? Tell us. And what u achieved do u have data to support? If your reform had achieved something we wouldn't be here talking same. Mayendwene. Your problem is u think u are better than everybody that is why Samia sacked u from CPP.
NPP is talking too much. We respect and trust them. Ghanaians expect to see trenches being dug for factory foundations across the country. Brevity is the sould of wits. If NPP is spending 5 months talking about talking they must bear in mind that we have almost 3 and a half years to go for the 2020 general elections. To blame of criticise Dr. Nduom would be dangerous. Just keep quiet and doing the job is what Dr Nduom is talking about; not pettiness and definitely not jealousy. Covernty PPP Cooms dept
Dr. Nduom, your call on the prez to stop complaining is a non issue and smacks of jealousy. The prez was identifying some attitudes that workers put up at their worl places and was admonishing that those practices should cease. How do you solve a problem without first identifying it. Have heart and be patient Dr Ndoum, prez Akufo Addo would be the prez we would ever have; at lrast at the end of his term.
There can be nothing worse than Mahama's government.
