Seasoned journalist Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has lambasted Ex-President Rawlings for posturing himself as more Catholic than the Pope.
Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Kweku Baako posited that Mr. Rawlings has no moral right to pontificate on corruption in the country.
According to Mr. Baako, the Rawlings' regime was extremely characterized with corruption and the latter himself played active role in this national canker.
Addressing a gathering at the 38th anniversary of June 4 revolution held at Wa in the Upper West on Sunday, the former President blamed his party - the National Democratic Congress - for their humiliating defeat in the 2016 elections.
He stated that the NDC was booted out of office because of greed, selfishness and corruption.
“Nobody is saying don’t make money, make it good and clean; but not some of the ones I know; sickening, that kind of greed and selfishness, look at where it landed us. Or is it because this government is not behaving the way Kufour did in his time, so we think we are okay? I know what’s going on. I know some of the things they are running into,” he said.
But to Mr. Baako, listening to Mr. Rawlings on corruption matters is like "going to brothel to go for lessons on morality”.
He described Mr. Rawlings as a hypocrite.
“I have nothing personal against President Rawlings. In fact, when it comes to personality, he’s one of the best. Socially, fantastic sense of humor; he’s mixes up very well. But when it comes to politics, he’s detestable and hypocritical, and he’s the last person for us to listen to on sermons on corruption", he stated.

WHERE DID KWEKU GET THE MONEY TO ESTABLISH HIS OWN NEWS PAPER? YOU HAVE SOLD YOUR DIGNITY, YOUR PRIDE, YOUR LOVE FOR THIS COUNTRY, AND YOUR CONSCIENCE FOR NPP`S MONEY. YOU HAVE RENTED YOURSELF TO NPP. YOUR HAVE BEEN A SHITT BEARER FOR FAR TOO LONG. WHEN WILL YOU AND KWESI PRAT ASK FOR FORGIVENESS AND STOP DEFENDING UNPARDONABLE SINSS SOME POLITICIANS HAVE BEEN COMMITTING AGAINST THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY? THE DEFERENCE BETWEEN YOU AND RAWLINGS IS THAT RAWLINGS HAS NOT RENTED HIMSELF TO ANYBODY. BOTH KWEKU AND RAWLINGS ARE NATION WRECKERSS
YOU HAVE HIT THE NAIL RIGHT ON THE HEAD. I LOVE YOUR CHOICE OF WORDS. KILLER RAWLINGS SHOULD GET SOME HOLE TO HIDE IN!!!!!
Oh fellow Ghanaians, when will you learn to say the truth? Always hiding the truth/facts. Is it good for our children? The children have to know the political history of their country in order to develop their intellect. Not so? Let's call a spade a spade & stop being hypocritical. Inexplicable things happened during JJ's regime. Who killed the judges & the many soldiers unaccounted for, who sold & bought Nkrumah's factories? I personally will like to know because it's an important part of our history. All these issues will be revealed when the indemnity clauses are scrapped so culprits are brought to book. Mr Baako, don't mind the blockheads & spill the beans for you & Mr Pratt were very close to this so-called hero. Ghanaians, be more practical for action speaks louder than words.
In addition, having realised that he lacked sound political skills and the intellect to manage Ghana's economy, he introduced tribalism into Ghana's body politic. Before JJ, no one could go on tv or radio and make tribalistic comments and JJ and his PNDC/NDC 'normalised' this behaviour with himself spewing copious amounts of tribal insults against Akans and Ashantes in particular. JJ is the single person to blame for all of Ghana's economic and social problems. He is more than guilty of all the things he accuses others of and does not have a moral right to even speak on corruption except if he is going to say he is extremely corrupt and a nation wrecker.
I believe you had had the debate wrong completely and here is why. JJ likes to give the impression that there was massive corruption in Ghana before he carried out his coup d'etat but nothing can be farther from the truth. Ghana was due to organise multiparty elections before JJ carried out his bloody coup and killed many people. Ghana's economy was doing fine around the time and it was JJ and his P/NDC that set Ghana behind by 30 years. For example Ghanaians were shot and killed for borrowing what was 50 Cedis then. JJ himself struggled to organise three square meals for himself and his family but now boasts of properties, yachts and businesses across Ghana and elsewhere. JJ's PNDC and later NDC institutionalised corruption in Ghana. People like Kwaku Baako were around and saw things for themselves so allow them to tell Ghanaians the truth. JJ and his PNDC/NDC cannot claim to be a party of probity and accountability as he claims and is very much guilty of the same crimes as Mahama. Personally, I have always maintained that if Ghanaians had a culture of reading and reading history in particular, no sane human being will vote for NDC after reading their atrocities and record on corruption. JJ, PNDC and NDC hate Ghana to the core and have no desire to see our dear country succeed by any measure. A word to the wise....
He will put the past behind him when ndc does so. So far as ndc will continue to hurt those who suffered under that tribal cleansing Kwaku Baako will also never rest. Ndc are bold to tell Ghanaians they are from revolution and that violence begat violence and they don't want nobody to talk about the excesses of that so called revolution of hate and env*ness? The Ashanti economy must be destroyed and the ewe hegemony? What goes around comes around, the evil that men do lives after them so the evil that ndc did to Ghana will never rest but will follow ndc to their graves. You want Kwaku Baako to let go what happened to this nation when ndc still hate Ghana to the core and want the destruction of Ghana? It will be better for you people not to come out to comment at all against Kwaku Baako for Ghana will never forgive you.
Kwaku, when are you going to put the past behind you?
I know you will never agree with this man on any page
see who is talking, was kwaku baako not jumping from radio station to station defendeding mahama in the ford car bribery scandal last year? Please you are better than JJ wai...
Kwaku takes things too personal with JJ. he should just calm down cos he himself is not a saint.
