Jacob Osei Yeboah, an Independent Presidential Candidate in the 2012 and 2016 general elections, has alleged that the recent allegations leveled against the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Madam Charlotte Osei, by some unidentified workers at the EC, are being instigated by the Political Parties in the country.
According to the two-time unsuccessful Presidential Candidate, what is happening at the EC currently is a culmination of many things, instigated by the Political Parties, because of Madam Charlotte Osei’s resolve to reform the commission, as well as her vow to implement the Political Parties Law.
Mr. Jacob Osei Yeboah made these observations when he was commenting on Onua FM’s morning show “Yen Nsem Pa”, hosted by Bright Kwesi Asempa regarding the unending internal wrangling ensuing between the Chairperson and her two deputies at the Electoral Commission of Ghana.
JOY 2016 posited that “There is no smoke without fire, many of the political parties never supported the appointment of Madam Charlotte Osei, because she vowed to see to the implementation of the Political Parties law. And so, they decided to plot to get her out of the office”.
He also agreed with the assertion that the two beleaguered deputy commissioners are fighting Mrs. Osei because of the reforms she is introducing at the commission, calling for an independent investigation into the accusations and counter allegations being traded by the commissioners since failure to do so will further push the electoral governing body into credibility crisis.
“There are many things happening at the blind side of the EC, and there is the need for us as a nation to investigate them to find out what really the issues are”, he proposed.
He further added that for “me Madam Charlotte Osei remains the only person who can reform the Electoral Commission, and ensure that the political parties law is carried out to the later, that is why it is essential we give her the needed support to reorganized the electoral commission”

Yes, that is the view of JOY and many others have different views. The crust of the matter is that only one person has a say on this issue, and that person is His Excellency the President. Being a seasoned lawyer himself and with the second to none legal team he has assembled, I strongly believe that he will resolve this mystery with ease. Note that no individual or entity is bigger than or more important than our now-found democracy. If the EC, the arbitrator in our democratic dispensation, is on fire you must know that our democracy and for that matter the whole Ghana is standing on a shaky ground and only vision, dedication and courage can handle the situation. I believe the President and the nation will prevail.
JOY has said what has been on my mind since the recent events started. Mrs. Charlotte Osei is young and very vibrant and well educated with fresh ideas to move the EC to the next level. But, the other deputies, who are very old wants to maintain the status quo. What's going on at the EC is like a clash of ideas and civilizations, the young, well educated vs the old, well educated. Because we, Ghanaians like our old ways of doing things and not willing for positive change, she, Mrs. Osei is suffering. The old deputies who have been at the EC for over decades are of the view that how can a young lady who just came in the come and be ordering us around. The old deputies think they've been there for long, hence don't have to be under a new person. Send Jesus Christ or a renowned reformer and he/she will face same faith of Mrs. Charlotte Osei
