Former moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana Rev. Professor Emmanuel Martey has expressed great disappointment in the President and his style of leadership as according to him, government has been less responsive to recent corruption scandals in the country.
Prof. Martey asked President Nana Addo Akufo-Addo to make a statement on the recent corruption incidents that have taken the media by storm as he referred to the current Fiat Panda scandal that has hit the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC).
This follows a recent report by The Herald which revealed that, “the Office of The President, acting through the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) is purchasing 1,800 over aged Fiat Panda vehicles from a private company with a questionable financial capacity.”
Prof. Martey, speaking at a Public Lecture on the corruption canker in Ghana, in Kumasi,
said corruption was not to be entertained in the country as corruption related scandals keep surfacing and the President during his campaign days presented himself as anti-corruption.
“Time will tell us whether this is yellow journalism or fake news but if you want to order Fiat cars, why would you go to a third party? Government shouldn’t be quiet over some of these things. They should quickly come and tell us because silence means consent,” Prof Martey Demanded.
“Let us not allow corruption in the system any longer especially when during the campaign he was seen as incorruptible whereas the other candidate was seen sitting down with a brother bribing somebody, giving cars and cash to tarnish the reputation of the opponent,” he said.
He warned the president against corrupt officials and questioned the integrity of some of the 110 substantive ministers, deputy ministers and ministers of state.
He noted that the large size of government has the tendency of brewing corruption and warned that some of these corrupt officials will be exposed soon.
“A large Government means large corruption. So we should have a constitutional direction. I said clearly that what has been proven, the NPP appointees have begun showing signs of corruption,” he said.

Why can't Ghanaians wait for facts on matters? the truth will always come out. so we should keep our powder dry and stop shouting corruption with no evidence!
8f the BNI should go into this and find no act of corruption thsee same people will come and tell us they are covering up for the government officials. Prof you based you assertion on a reportage by the Herald? Seriously? If you had done your independent investigation and had not depended on a paper like the Herald, perhaps you wouldn't have made this comment. This same Herald which published a corruption story about Hackman Owusi Agyemang which earneed the paper and it's editor an 800k court fine?
The Rev Prof is for the good of Ghana and not any political party. simplicita
Prof Martey is a man of God who always says things to be corrected so please donot let us jump in to conclusion that Nana's governance is corrupt. Nana will react very soon. Just keep your finger cross Prof. Martey, we respect your comments of wrongs. Ghana wish you long life likewise Nana as or President.
Mr. President, you have a singular and unique opportunity to leave your mark on Ghanaian society and politics forever. You are respected. You are perceived as incorruptible. You are perceived as principled and firm for what is right. You have started well with enhancing access to education: a national imperative for any society in this global environment. Please, Your Excellency, do the following: 1. Investigate any reports of corruption or malfeasance concerning any and every member of your administration (Ministers, deputy Ministers, staffers and appointees including CEOs and members of boards of statutory government or quasi-government institutions). Sack proven cases PUBLICLY and prosecute them. 2. SACK incompetent appointees who do not, clearly, perform and by their public statements demonstrate their incompetence (such as the CEO of NPA as per his public excuses for the gas explosion which caused the loss of human lives!). Mr. President if you are able to do these with clarity, firmness and promptly you would solve the major twin cancer that is destroying this country: corruption and incompetence/mediocrity. Posterity, and history would judge you excellently and yours will be the yardstick that subsequent governments will be judged by. With respect.....
BNI will soon clear every govt official.
SO, NOW DO WE SAY THAT ALL THE NOISE NANA ADDO AND NPP MADE ABOUT JOHN MAHAMA WERE FALSE JUST TO TARNISH HIS REPUTATION AND INCITE PEOPLE AGAINST HIM AND HIS PARTY,WHICH THEY SUCCEEDED. IF THE CURRENT CORRUPTION CHARGES LEVELED AGAINST NANA'S APPOINTEES ARE UNTRUE, THEN THE ISSUE OF CORRUPTION IS JUST A PERCEPTION NOT THAT THE PREVIOUS GOVT WAS TRULY CORRUPT AS WE WERE MADE TO UNDERSTAND.
Fake
Good on there. I salute your boldness.
HMMM!! Ayoo!
