Former President John Dramani Mahama has come under heavy attack by Zimbabweans on micro-blogging site, Twitter for referring to their ex-leader, Robert Mugabe as a ‘hero’.
John Mahama who is one of the many world leaders to react to the news of the unexpected resignation of Mugabe that brought an end to his 37-year-old rule as president of Zimbabwe took to Twitter to heap praises on the former revolutionary leader.
The former President of Ghana, who despite wishing the ‘freed’ country a turnaround for democracy and prosperity did not seem happy about the sudden turn of events referred to the situation as a “sad ending for a liberation hero.”
His tweet however, did not seem to have gone down well with Zimbabweans who have expressed displeasure and anger towards the Former president of Ghana.

This greedy and incompetent Mahama who has collapsed our economy is trying to poke his nose into other people's matter and deserve these response..... Next time think before you talk.... Mugabe is a dictator not a hero.... His own party turn against him and caused his forced resignation. At 93 he should be on retirement....
There is nothing npp can do to stop mahama come back. In this Era of social media everyone can speak his mind, so if one or too ediotic Zimbabweans disagree with mahama for calling mugabe a hero, why does npp fuuuuulls pounce on it to smear him. Even your weed smoking dwarf of a president is considered as hero by you fuuulls, why not mugabe, a freedom fighter by all standard.
This is sad. Mr Mahama's notoriety as a tactless, clueless, thoughtless, syrupy, incompetent person, is now spreading abroad! The Bible says, if a ***barred word***, even a ***barred word***, holds his tongue, he is thought a wise man. Why do you keep hurting your dignity so much? If you go hunting for glory, you return with a blush. Glory hates being pursued.
Mugabe, like Nkrumah and Gadaffi, is Freedom Fighter, Pan Africanist but at the same time dictator, tyrant and suppressive leader. He had to be removed from power by force because he had no respect for veritable democracy. Outsiders who never experience the suppression of his regime might find him to be a hero but his own people who bore the brunt of his wickedness see him as evil. Mugabe and leaders of their kindddd can never be heroes. Heroes are not just people who to pick up guns or set up motion to take powers from others and turn to become oppressive more than the powers they have usurped. Heroes are people who lead people to to freedom and set up system that sustain and promote that that freedom. In this case Mugabe, Nkruma, Ghadafi or any of their kinddd can never be heros in true sense of the word. Few example of Heroes are Nyerere, Mandela, Kuffuor, Mbeki, and several others. Even Houphouët-Boigny is not a Hero. I understand why somebody once refer to Mahama as not being smart. It is a serious blunder to make such a comment when the removal of mugabe has attracted so much support at home and across the world.

Oyiwa! There you have the appropriate responses. I can't understand how the leader of a currency-less country could be a hero. Whatever Mugabe's ambitions were for fighting for independence, he failed miserably. He took the people from British rule only to subject them to economic hardships. Today, more than 4 million Zimbabweans (out 16 million) are living out of their country. They are slaving in neighbouring south africa and elsewhere, doing demeaning jobs and being treated like sh'it. And you have the guts to call this leader a hero? Ah! What the so-called pan africanists (Nkrumah, mugabe and co.) never knew is that political liberation is utterly ***barred word*** without economic liberation. Today black people chase the white man to Europe and amerika to sweep gutters and wash plates. Ghanaians are drowning in the mediterranean sea and dying on Sahara desert... wherever the sun shines on this earth, you will find a Ghanaian there trying to make money and send back home. Why? Is this independence? And you call them 'heroes'... you deserve the in'sults.
Mahama, the so-called communicator who does not even think of the likely consequences of his statements before opening his mouth or tweeting. Such an embarr@ssment to himself and Ghanaians
