The Office of HE John Dramani Mahama has described as irresponsible and reckless, an allegation by Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul that the former president is occupying or has appropriated a land or property belonging to the Ghana Armed Forces.
In a statement released Thursday evening, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Aide to the Former President, said while the minister did not provide any details of the said property, “we presume that the minister’s irresponsible claim is in respect of the current residence of the former first family.”
President Mahama has not appropriated or acquired any land or property belonging to the military and which he is currently occupying, Joyce Mogtari stated.
According to the statement, the former president and his family as is commonly known, currently resides in a residential estate developed by a private real estate development company. The estate has been in existence for several years and the former first family lives peacefully with several Ghanaian and expatriate neighbours.
“This Office is appalled at the minister's unfounded accusation because any serious Defence Minister, with the Military Intelligence apparatus under him would know that President Mahama has no claim to the ownership of the land of the property in which he resides.
The statement reminded the Defence Minister to concentrate on the responsibilities of his office instead of making spurious allegations against the former president.
“It is sad that the minister with oversight responsibility over our men and women in uniform, who risk their lives to preserve the security of our nation, would descend into the gutter and dabble in propaganda of the most undesirable kind. This behaviour falls short of the requirements of a Defence Minister whose office calls for sobriety and reflection”, the statement ended.

Which minister deserved respect did he respected de former president this ***barred word*** ministers think they are superior than anybody 2ho is m not a member of their government seriously ghana deserved better dan dis short sighted people who are in power they are simple uselessssss
Frankly; your comments are just pathetic to say the least ; have you just wasted a little bit of your time to listen to the points raised by the minister ; this propaganda idiotic full Mogtari does not seem to understand the implication of what the Minister is saying ; what ever be the legal issues as known to you ; I dare say that you are totally WRONG ; the land in question was a stool bought after independence ; the land had a specific purpose which served as a buffer between the army and civilian properties in the area ; the original owners of the land through historic political 'kululu ; sold the land to with the tacit collusion with both NPP and NDC to a private developer who quickly built on these lands and sold parcels of the land to NDC and NPP member ; Alfred Mahama ; Ibrahim ;Jon Mahama and all the big people within both the NDC and NPP bought parcels of the land but have never built on these yet hoping to sell even Inusah Fuseini has a plot in that are; the military who has an interest in land since independence did not take any action because of political influence ; but today the Military have decided to protect the land through the AG ; that piece of land has a litigation on it court with the original owners ; the question was did Jon Mahama and those who bought the parcel of land in that area do due diligence of ascertaining the problems associated with the land from the original owners before he bought the property on the land; as a military land bought for a reason and meant for purpose it is in the interest of the public to purchase such land ; the military can easily argue a case of security grounds ; that is why Jon Mahama is being advised to leave the land because if the military obtains a Court injunction on the land ; the military will demolish all properties on the land besides as the minister explained they have the same problems with land encroachment in Kumasi ;Takoradi LET SEE HOW JON MAHAMA FIGHTS THE ARMY AND THEIR BULLDOZERS ; remember Nana Addo refused to accept land in that area because he knew the future consequence of buying a land in that area .
oh oh oh what a response, you rather who should clear the air rather damaged it by bring in the gutter business. you run a bad campaign to send the man to opposition, fought your sister and you went out of power and she is in power and where is your mother now. i wish JM will sack you, just good at one thing.....insults.
This is what I like. When two factions claim they are both right. My only problem is the language used by Ms Mogtari. At least the minister deserves some decency and in his submission he never used any foull language so why the insultts? However, does the sec know that one of the duties of the minister is to see to the protection of property under his ministry? Will insultts tell the ownership of the property under question? Or as usual she is still continuing their incompetence mantra?
@NII. YOU HAVE TRIED TO JUSTIFY THE MINISTERS CLAIM BUT HAVE FAILED ABYSMALLY. "OCCUPYING AND MILITARY LAND". NII, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? BREAKING UNTO THE LAND AND ERECTING A PROPERTY ON IT OR DID THE EX PRESIDENT BUY THE LAND AND BUILT A PROPERTY ON IT? NOW YOU KNOW VERY WELL THAT MADAM MOGTARY CLAIMS IT WAS ACQUIRED FROM A PRIVATE DEVELOPER SO HOW IN THE FIRST PLACE CAN A WHOLE SECTOR MINISTER MAKE SUCH A RIDICULOUS CLAIM? I AM IMAGINING HOW HE HAS ABDICATED HIS RESPONSIBILITIES FOR YOU TO SEEM TO DEFEND HIM. I THINK HIS HEAD SHOULD ROLE SO THAT YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO DEFEND HIS CLAIMS.
This Mogtari woman has rather descended into the gutters. How can a statement like this come from an ex president (Mahama)office? Did Mahama agree to this press release? It seem his office has no respect for Ghanaians.
Oh I think NPP are afraid of JM in 2020. Look at the Okomfo Prophet too saying JM cant be president again in Ghana.
I feel sad for this woman. She speaks like a Makola woman or a Zongo, very disrespectful, ***barred word*** and always insulting. Is it because she is a lawyer? Is that how to work as secretary or P.A for Mahama. No wonder you can only serve Mahama. Madam, who does the estates belong to? Who sold the land to him/her? If you don't know ask Mahama and you will understand the Ministers drift.
THANK YOU MADAM,WELL SAID,EDUCATE THIS MAN FOR ME
the so called minister has power he thinks he has, he should go ahead to evacuate the dear president JM
