Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is expected to return soon to Ghana.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister and Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has debunked reports credited to him, claiming Dr. Bawumia will return to the country in a week's time.
Dr. Bawumia was flown out of Ghana to the United Kingdom (UK) on Friday, January 19 for medical attention after reportedly taken ill.
The Veep's medical leave was made known by the Chief of Staff, Frema Opare who announced to the general public.
According to Starr News' Parliamentary Correspondent Ibrahim Alhassan, he spoke with the Majority Leader who disclosed that the Vice President is in good condition and will return within a week.
“The Vice President really, I’ll tell you that he is okay. But, he has been asked to rest a bit. You know Ghanaians if he should come now, so many people will be trooping to his house and thus he wouldn’t have time to rest,” he told Ibrahim adding “which is why I think the doctors decided that [he should] continue to rest a bit for at least one more week or so before coming", the Majority Leader was quoted.
But speaking in an interview on Peace News @ 6pm, Hon. Mensah-Bonsu placed on record that he never gave such assurance but rather admitted the Vice President has fully recuperated and would be back to Ghana in the least expected time to resume his official duties.
“I said I know from what I’ve heard that he is doing well and will return soon. I didn’t state categorically that he will return in a week’s time because God willing, he could return sooner than the specified period. Frankly, we even thought he would return yesterday or today…So, I know it will not be long and he will come back to resume his work”, he clarified on Peace News.

BAWUMIA should by now have written a long lecture on how to heal yourself when sick. He should lecture us since he knows everything. NPP has used him to do their SPEAKING and now he is TIRED and SICK.
This NPP govt is UNAWARE of BAWUMIA's health status. This is what happens when you lie a lot. You don;t remember anything.
WANING::!!!Every refugee receives passport given by United Nations. Never on this earth refugee receive the passport of that country except Ghana. Do our parlimantarians know law regarding refugees? Even refugee have to stay a while at least 5 years before he/she can apply for that country's nationality. If accepted then he/she can apply for travel documents such as passport. Therefore the whole thing concern these Guantanamo 2 is wrong and fault. They have to apply their refugee status from Ministry of Interior and if granted then 5 years later as for citizenship. It will be totally wrong if the government fail to follow this refugee or international law. Ghanaians are watching oo. We live in Europe and this is what we go through or the process we follow. How can Ghana be so loose and cheap because of few money. Look what happened to our fellow brothers in Libya and Arab countries like Quatar etc.
I personally believe all this brouhaha will stop if Dr. Bawumia himself comes put and clear the air on his health status. Because, now a whole lot of interpretation is being given to the problem.
IF IT IS A STROKE, THEN IT IS A BAD NEWS. IF THE STROKE AFFECTED HIS MIND, WE MAY NEED A NEW VICE PRESIDENT. MAN PASS MAN. HMMMMMMMMM!?
GOD HATES LIARS LIKE BAWUMIA. REPENT OR DIE. THE 'UNAWARE' GOVT IS AS USE.LESS AS ST.I.THOLE.
NPP & FlagStuff House should stop the ***barred word*** & be honest with Ghanaians. The truth is the VP Dr. Bawumia is seriously sick (Stroke) & won't recover anytime soon. Ghanaians went thru this charade of drama with late Prof. JA Mills.
ah peacefm paa, is this news. stop this lazy reportage and go out there to get us some real news! Don't tell l-a-z-y too should be a barred word
This issue of people trooping to his home, I don't get it. He is a vice president for crying out loud. He has all the security he needs to restrict visitors, so what are you people talking about. It's established that the man is sick, so who in his right mind would visit the man to disturb him. You can regulate visitors by telling them all they need to do is to shake his hand and leave, no chatting.
