Kweku Baako has expressed disgust over the stance of the Minority in Parliament over the cash-for-seat report.
The Minority in Parliament walked out of the August House on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 after building a case that they had received the 145-page Committee's document and couldn't have enough time to peruse the report thoroughly for discussions to be held on it in the House.
Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, insisted that under the circumstances, his side of the House could not partake in the deliberations and so walked off.
Addressing the issue on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Kweku Baako described the Minority's action as pathetic and an exposure of their mischief.
According to him, they displayed sheer lack of concern because they adopted a deliberate strategy since the genesis of the issue to falsely accuse the Trade Minister and the Akufo-Addo administration.
Allegations borne out of Allegations
He explained that from the onset of the cash-for-seat controversy, people were made to believe it was an issue of "extortion" but today, it's "proven that their claims didn't make any sense from the beginning".
“It is deliberate. They don’t care. Look, create a critical mass of allegations borne out of allegations and defended by allegations…Whatever you do, subject it to any scrutiny; it doesn’t concern them”.
Though to him, the Minority have nothing to prove in the cash-for-seat saga, he however believes setting up a Committee to probe into the matter was a genuine cause.
He asked Ghanaians to develop "sufficient endurance" and be unfazed by the Minority saying they have deliberately chosen to make a mountain out of a molehill just to accuse the government of being corrupt.
"...damn! They’ve been well [well] exposed. They have been exposed. They have no case, that’s why they’re playing such tricks," Kweku Baako said.
Some sections of the 145-page report said: “ ...After the hearings and the analysis and evaluation of the evidence adduced before it has come to a conclusion that there is no merit in the allegations leveled against the Ministry of Trade and Industry as contained in the motion and which culminated in the setting up of the Special Committee.”
“That the practice of some Members of Parliament trooping to the media to make allegations against highly placed officials must cease.
"The Committee is of the view that Members of Parliament who indulge in such acts ought not to be heard in Parliament if they should thereafter bring those matters before Parliament for Parliament to deliberate on the matter", the Committee further cautioned.
However, the Minority has expressed reservations over the document and issued a seperate report that some persons of interests in the probe, including the Ministry of Trade and the organizers of the awards scheme, the Millennium Excellence Foundation.
From the Minority's perspective, the details of their report perhaps conflict with the conclusions made in the Committee's document and so boycotted the debate.
"What Animal Is Minority Report?"
But speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi, Kweku Baako stated categorically that “there is only one report" and asked "what animal is Minority report?"
"It’s unheard-of. Come on! We’ve got to be serious in this country…Pathetic, pathetic, pathetic. I am so scandalized…The whole thing didn’t make sense from day 1 but I supported the setting up of the Committee” for the purpose of “education by negative experience; exposure of the mischief through a transparent process”, he added.

@KORSI I READ YOUR POST THOROUGHLY AND WANTED TO KNOW THESE ISSUES THEREIN. SORRY I COULDN'T FIND ONE. CAN WE DISCUSS ISSUES WITHOUT HEAVILY RELYING ON PERSONALITIES? BROTHER THE POLITICAL SYSTEM IS TAINTED, VERY CORRUPT AND MIND YOU THEY DO NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT ME AND YOU. IF YOU ARE ENJOYING IN THE HAUL, FINE BUT IF YOU ARE NOT INVOLVED OR NOT SHARING IN THE ILL GOTTEN FACILITIES YOU HAVE TO BE HORRIFIED. YOU SEE THESE ALLEGATIONS CAN NOT SUCCEED IN THOSE FORA BECAUSE OF THE TESTS APPLIED. THESE TESTS ARE NOT DESIGNED AS A PANACEA FOR SUCH PRACTICES THAT IS WHY IN THOSE COUNTRIES THAT ARE SERIOUS IN CURBING CORRUPTION AND MISUSE OF OFFICE PEOPLE RESIGN DUE TO SUCH ALLEGATIONS. IN THIS CASE ONES THERE WAS SOLICITATIONS FOR FUNDS USING THE HEAD OF GOVERNMENT WITHOUT THAT KNOWLEDGE, HEADS ROLL. THE CONSOLIDATED FUNDS ARE NOT FOR THOSE PURPOSES. IT IS A "SACRED" ACCOUNT WHICH SHOULD NOT BE CONTROLLED BY ANY TOM ***barred word*** AND HARRY AND FOR SUCH MONEY TO GO IN IN THE FIRST PLACE WRONG MAYBE NOT ILLEGAL. THAT MEANS PEOPLE CAN DIP THEIR HANDS INTO IT WITHOUT ANY CARE. NO WONDER OIL PROCEEDS ARE NOT PAID INTO IT AS STIPULATED THE LAWS AND NO ONE BUTTS AN EYE. MIND YOU THIS IS DONE BY SUCCESSIVE GOVERNMENTS. THE CONSOLIDATED FUND IS NOT THE PRESIDENTS ACCOUNT NOR FOR A MINISTER OR HIS OR HER DEPUTY. WHAT A STATE OF AFFAIRS. THESE ARE SERIOUS ISSUES. ISSUES ISSUES ISSUES. AS I WILL CONTINUE TO MENTION, THERE IS A REASON WHY PRECIOUS PEOPLE OF A NATION WILL PAY FOR ENSLAVEMENT AND ALSO THERE IS A REASON WHY A COUNTRY OR NATION WILL BE LABELLED AS A S....HOLE IN MY CANDID OPINION.
THANKS TO MODERN TECHNOLOGY AND THE DECISION TO TELECAST THE INVESTIGATION LIVE. WE COULD ALL JUDGE THAT THERE WERE NO MERITS IN THE ALLEGATIONS WHATSOEVER. MUNTAKA WAS INCONSISTENT. HE KEPT CHANGING POSITIONS AND CLAIMED HE WAS NOT A LAYWER. HE WAS NOT SURE OF MANY THINGS YET HE WAS BOLD ENOUGH TO MAKE CLAIMS THAT WERE INJURIOUS TO PEOPLE REPUTATION. THAT WAS BOYISH AND WICKEDNESS. OKUDZETO WAS JUST STUBBORN AND SACASTICSSS. HE WAS INSINCERE, ADAMANT AND ILLOGICAL. HE WAS IN MANY WAYS BEGGED THE QUESTIONS. HE FAILED TO ANSWER MANY QUESTIONS POSED TO SUBSTANTIATE HIS ALLEGATIONS. HE FAILED TO SUBSTANTIATE ANY. JUST WATCH THE CLIP FROM THE ***barred word***. I ADMIRED AYENI DURING THE INTERROGATION AND HIS POLITENESS. SADLY HE ENDED WOEFULLY, MAY BE FOR THE FEAR OF HIS PARTY MEMBERS. IT WAS DISHONORABLE TO LIED TO HIS COLLEAGUES IN THE COMMITTEE. AFEDZI DURING THE INVESTIGATION AIMED ONLY TO FIND FAULT AND NOT TO ESTABLISH FACTS. HE WAS NOTED FOR ASKING QUESTIONS THAT WERE NOT RELEVANT TO ESTABLISH FACTS OF THE CASE IN QUESTION. HE ENDED UP DISGRACING HIMSELF IF IT HAD NOT BEEN INTERVENED BY VICTOR GBEHO, ONE OF THOSE ACCUSED. WATCH THE CLIP. EVENTUALLY HE ABANDONED SHIP.HE RUN AWAY AT THE CONCLUSION BECAUSE HE COULD NOT FIND FAULT TO ACHIEVE HIS GOAL. VERY SHAMEFUL. THANK TO MR. KYEREMEH HIS OTHERS COLLEAGUES FOR BEING FIRM TO SAVE THE WHOLE PARLIAMENT FROM SHAME, WHEN OTHERS HAD ABANDONED SHIP. THEY HAVE MADE HISTORY. GOD ALLOWED THE NDC MPS IN THE COMMITTEE TO SHOW THEIR TRUE CHARACTER AT THE END SO THAT THEY COULD NOT SHARE IN THE GOOD WORK OF THE COMMITTEE. GOD KNEW THEY HAD DIABOLICCC INTENTION EVEN BEFORE THE TRIAL.
MR ASSEM OR WHAT EVER YOU CALL YOURSELF, YOUR LONG RESPOSITION AMAZES ME A LOT. Whilst I am nursing my horror and anguish of seeing my hitherto adored and respected Gentlemen in the persons of Dr. Ayenin and Haruna Iddrisu sacrificing their credibility and FUTURE opportunity as far as the leadership ONE DAY of this our beloved country, their recent posturing on the these fallaciously orchestrated OPPOSITION PARTY ALLEGATIONS has damned and DOOMED THEM FORVER POLITICALLY. One need be legal brain to see through this mischief and a respected like Dr. Ayenin a former deputy attorney will throw his vexed jurisprudence awy for political chickenry, Wow! As for HARUNA he has lost it since the adumdum adum dum era. He will not learn from the QUALITY OF OPINION SO EXPRESSED in Debate in parliament from his senior Mr. Kyei Mensah Bonsu, though on the majority side but very astute in presentation. Parliament is not a place for mischievous oral English juggling and peddling of ubsurd allegations to hoodwink into believing you doing a great job and together with another irresponsible and erratic colleague responding to OKUDZETO ABLAKWA. What a disgusting and irritating bunch of legislators. WHAT A SHAME!
Let it be known to you and your like that if it comes to the current Ghanaian democratic dispensation, Kweku Baako deserves a VVIP treatment than your Mahama
NPP, the party that sent Kweku Baako to Japan to celebrate his birthday is back in power. NPP never does anything wrong in the sight of Mr. Baako.
when we say that these ndc ple are stup1>d ple think it is an insult but now we are rather praising them bcos that is what they choose to be. may be we shd look for another way to describe them bcos it looks like their head is swelling bcos we are hailing them for being stup1>d. they know they just want to waste our time and money on a us3l3ss exercise and if this doesnt not stop they will continue to behave this way. all they want to do is to tag the npp govt corrupt and that is what they are doing. this stup1>d1ty must stop. their members on such committees will always play to their card, so dont expect them to make any meaningful contribution. and they will be the first to accuse the majority side on the committee of covering up. cant we see what these ple are trying to do? I hope the speaker will be bold enough to turn down such demands for committees in the future bcos its wasting the tax payers money. this money spent could pay the school fees of 100 or more students in SHS for at least a year. if u continue to accommodate everything these ndc ple say u will never move forward. ignore them and move on.
The minority thinks the trick they used to win in 2009 would work this time. Oh, group of little minded I D I O T S. Ghanaians are well informed this time. This strategy will never work. If Ndc has prophets and have not told ndc Mother Nature is against them for the way they destroyed everything in the country. Look at our rivers, forests life of the ordinary man. Mother Nature wiull never allow them unto power again. NDC will soon be in the abyss, mark my word. It wILL be like CPP.There's going to be a third force from ndc and Assem and Don Biko will be seperated of which they will be confused of which party they belong to. . ***barred word*** little minds.
FOLKS WE CAN PLAY THE NDC, NPP CARD AND EWE ASHANTI CARD ON THESE ISSUES. AS WE ARE AT IT, OUR COUNTRY IS DEEPENING ITS S...HOLE CREDENTIALS. THERE IS A REASON WHY WE QUEUE TO PAY EXTORTIONATE FEES TO BE ENSLAVED.
99% OF NDC D-OGS WILL END UP IN JAIL BCOS OF CORRUPTION FROM MAHAMA ADMINISTRATION .THEY ARE SCARED OF AMIDU. AND THE STU--PID SUPPORTERS WILL FOLLOW THEM.
NDC is likened to the story below. There was a village on the outskirts of a forest. A shepherd boy used to take his herd of sheep across the fields to the lawns near the forest. One day he felt very boring. He wanted to have fun. So he cried aloud "Wolf, Wolf. The wolf is carrying away a lamb". Farmers working in the fields came running and asked, "Where is the wolf?". The boy laughed and replied "It was just a fun. Now get going all of you". The boy played the trick for quite a number of times in the next few days. After some days as the boy, perched upon a tree, as singing a song, there came a wolf. The boy cried loudly "Wolf, Wolf, The wolf is carrying a lamb away." There was no one to come. The boy shouted "Help! Wolf! Help!" Still, no one came to his help. The villagers thought that the boy was playing mischief again. The wolf carried a lamb away. MORAL : A liar's truth is seldom believed.
