Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, Minister of Trade and Industry, wants Parliament, and by extension the state, to explore the possibilities of charging Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, Minority Chief Whip for wilfully causing financial loss to the state.
According to him, the recall of Parliament during their Christmas break following the Member of Parliament’s motion has incurred costs.
Mr Keyermanten made the statement in Parliament after the five-member committee had dismissed allegation brought against the Ministry of Trade and Industry..
He was also in Parliament to convey his Ministry’s gratitude to the House for following due diligence in probing the matter.
The Speaker, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, setup a five-member Committee to look into Alhaji Muntaka’s motion, seconded by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, which accused the Trade Ministry of illegally levying expatriate business owners at an awards ceremony.
After many weeks of public hearing, the committee on Tuesday presented its report, though not without drama as the Minority walked out of the House.
Mr Kyeremanten in appreciating the work of the committee begged the Speaker to make comments about Alhaji Muntaka, Mr Okudzeto, James Klutse Avedzi and Dr Dominic Ayine who were key actors in the “drama”.
About Muntaka, he added that his documents presented to the committee “on oath” were “fraudulent” and “it could be a matter that can be properly interrogated”.
Mr Kyeremanten expressed worry about, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu, barometer of the country’s international image as a result of the allegations.
He argued that the opinion of the Ranking Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, whom he described as the Rising Star of the Minority, cannot constitute the entirety of the international community.
About Dr Ayine, the Trade Minister said all the documents that were not substantiated during the public hearings found their ways into the Minority’s counter report released on Friday.
Mr Kyeremanten also accused Mr Avedzi of working so hard to fault the Ministry of using public accounts for private funds.
“How are citizens protected by the acts and omissions of honourable members?” Mr Kyerematen queried.

Is not your fault time will tell
THE MINORITY IS NOW AGITATED AND RECKLESS ON PURPOSE. THEY KNOW VERY WELL THE FRUIT OF THE TREND OF GOVERNANCE BY NPP AND ITS IMPLICATION ON THEIR SURVIVAL. THERE IS SO MUCH TALK IN GHANA TODAY ABOUT THE CORRUPTION OF THE MAHAMA NDC ADMINISTRATION WHICH IS SO BAD FOR THEM. BESIDES, NPP WITH FREE SHS, CREATING NEW DISTRICTS AND REGIONS, PLANTING FOR FOOD, FACTORIES IN THE DISTRICTS ARE ALL SEEN AS A THREAT TO THEIR RELEVANCE AS AN OPPOSITION PARTY. IN FACT THE NPP GOVERNMENT, IN ONE YEAR, IS WELL COORDINATED AND PROGRESSING THAT THE OPPOSITION HAS NO TANGIBLE ROLE TO PLAY IN GOVERNANCE EXCEPT TO CAUSE OBSTRUCTION. UNFORTUNATELY, SUCH ATTITUDE OF THE OPPOSITION WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE DISAFFECTION FOR THEM AND AFFECT THEIR ELECTORAL FORTUNES. I HOPE NDC MPS WOULD REALISE THE HARM THEY ARE DOING TO THEIR PARTY BEFORE GHANAIANS SEND THEM TO A POLITICAL LIMBO.
I can see that when you are in the minority, you see things from a different barometer and no amount of accurate report will cast the spell out of your eyes. Where was the minority when in majority did nothing about SADA, SUBA,woyome, Bus Branding , Muntaka pampers and many more? Lord have mercy on this busy for nothing minority.
I will never take minority serious again.Serious minds are at work and we need a strong minority to move the country FORWARD
If the NDC party especially its parliamentarians do not change their destructive attitude into a positive one - helping to build the damaged economy, the end result will be that NPP will be in power for long, long years. This will turn Ghana into a one-party-state. A word to the wise...
Oh!!! if this is not just a jest, then I consider it as infantile and ridiculous for a man of his stature to make such s2up1d allegations. Or is it a lack of knowledge in the standing orders of the August House? One would have thought, as once a minister of state he would be privy to such circumstances as there is none other avenue for the MP to exercise his authority to query the inconsistencies in government dealings with the outside world. Especially in a scenario like this, where the presidency superintends frauds and shady deals with expatriates. After all the president has taken a negative stand as far as corruption in his government is concerned. So whether the minister had been cleared or not,,, that is not what we are interested in. But the substance of the matter... with all the supporting documents furnished to prove that those were not mere allegations but are also substantiated respectively. So far,,,, we know that this government is corrupt, thus lacks the political will to deal with his own mess,
You have no shame. If I were u I would have kept quiet, when I know I benefited from majority cover up. There were clear violation of public financial regulations. Nobody issues GCR to cover private transactions. Hell would have broken lose if it was a poor civil or public servant who presided over that. The discerning public has formed its opinion after watching and listening to proceeding. Allan has set a bad precedent which will destroy the public sector.
