Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, Eugene Boakye Antwi wants Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Hon Kennedy Agyapong to resign if his salary as a Parliamentarian is peanuts.
He describes as sad, comments purportedly made by the Assin Central MP against the Majority Leader of the House, Hon Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu and the institution itself.
Mr. Boakye Antwi, in an angry tone, insisted “Kennedy Agyapong should resign if he believes the salary paid him is beneath his status”.
He further explained “comments made by the Assin Central MP are unacceptable in any jurisdiction …let’s call a spade a spade, for he has made utterances we have all heard as Members of Parliament which really demeans our reputation.”
Contributing to a panel discussion on UTV’s Adekye Nsroma programme, Hon Boakye Antwi, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin Constituency, said eventhough he believes his colleague MP may have a point regarding the modus operandi of Anas Aremeyaw Anas, he (Antwi) backs the decision to haul the outspoken MP before the Privileges Committee of Parliament over his purported contemptuous utterances against Parliament and the Majority Leader.
“I 100% support his crusade launched against the investigative journalist even though I may not agree on his style of defense because I believe no Ghanaian will refuse a gift in this state of economy. … Indeed Kennedy Agyapong has a point and we [decent Ghanaian] all support him,” he added.
BACKGROUND
Mr. Kennedy Agyapong lashed out at the Majority Leader for advising him to desist from making unpalatable comments about Anas and rather prove with facts if he has anything against him, saying he would be mad to support Anas when he hasn’t even seen the evidence that he (Agyapong) has.
“If Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu follows Anas, then he will be disgraced when I bring the evidence. Do you know what I have? So if Kyei Mensah saying he is better than the judges? Are you out of your mind? Parliament has become cheap, because I’m not a small boy,” the maverick legislator told Oman FM.
He continued, “Kyei Mensah might be older than me but he does not have much experience in life like me. I only respect him, but if he jokes I will sink down with him. I fear nobody, and Parliament doesn’t feed me. What will GHc11, 000 do for me? How much is my chop money?”
He further stated that he criticizes Anas’ work because the undercover journalist engages in selective justice, adding that Anas even has an exposé on Parliament but he has refused to show it to the world.
“I dare Kyei Mensah, he should bring the investigations that Anas once did about Parliament. Anas said he would do an investigation on Parliament so why hasn’t he premiered that one? Is Parliament more than the judiciary? So why has he shown the judiciary scandal but has refused to show that of Parliament?" he said.
“I will fight for justice for every person in this country. And all I’m doing is that justice for all, and not justice for only the strongest.”
REFERRAL
Mr Agyapong has been dragged before the Privileges Committee of Parliament over his purported contemptuous utterances against Parliament and the Majority Leader, Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.
The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Joseph Osei-Owusu, referred Mr Agyapong to the Privileges Committee following a motion moved by Alhaji Muntaka.
Ahaji Muntaka said he had an audio and video in which Mr Agyapong referred to the House as a cheap and useless assembly.
He said Mr Agyapong had stated in the audio and video that: “if this House were not useless, they would not have the like of Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu as its leader."

I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SAYING THAT ONE DAY KENNEDY AGYAPONG WILL MISS THE PIONT OR THE BOAT.HE FORGETS THAT,HE IS A LAW MAKER AND NOT A JOURNALIST OR AN ORDINARY MAN LIKE MYSELF.THERE ARE STATEMENTS THAT ARE MADE BY LINQUISTS AND ONES MADE BY KINGS.HE SHOULD NOT MIX APPLES WITH ORANGES.TO BE CONTD.
This so-called Deputy Minister is not serious. He is in politics because of salary and not to serve the country. Such a person will steal our money and will be very corrupt. If someone thinks that in spite of his money he is willing to serve the country and his constituents as an MP he is not there because of the salary, although he considers it as peanuts. We all know the man Kenedey gives more than his salary to others on a regular basis. What has this salary conscious Deputy Minister done for his constituents with his salary which he considered not to be peanuts.
all Kennedy knows is money. So he has bought people who fear and will not dare to challenge him. ***barred word***. It is a shame to have such a man in Parliament. What values does he teach his numerous children that he is fathering in all corners of Ghana? INSULTS, INSULTS, INSULTS... that's all he knows.
We should think through what he said. If you as a minister you are content with the salary or pay; he is saying the money is peanuts. So what is wrong in that. I believe that it is very true. Look we give contracts to foreigners to do business in Ghana. They calculate the value based on the salary in their countries and pay Ghanaians peanuts because we let it to be so. Why don't the government analyze and pay all Ghanaians better living wage bi-weekly. So if one is saying the pay is peanuts why the beef.
Why should be resign because of small Salary? He is not an MP because of Salary wai? like some people. He is an MP because he wants to make good laws and fight for Justice for his constituency and all Ghanaians.
This uselessss and fooooolish article
