Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament and presidential hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Alban Bagbin has vented his anger towards the media accusing them of being biased towards former president, John Mahama.
He debunked the notion that Mr. Mahama stands tall against the rest in his party.
Speaking on Accra based GHOne TV, the lawmaker said he was troubled by the many media publicity that the former president has had as against others who have also expressed their interest in leading the party come December, 2020.
“I have indicated on certain terms my intension to contest the flagbearership of the NDC…actually I get worried that the media is focusing only on Mahama when there are other contestants. I don’t know why that is so.
“People are not talking about Professor Alabi, Spio-Garbrah…they are not talking about Sylvester Mensah and it is always Mahama Mahama,” Mr. Bagbin retorted.
For him, Mahama’s popularity on the media landscape may only be because of his past position as president adding that after losing in a very humiliating manner, Mr. Mahama is trying hard to have a comeback.
“But I would want to see the discussion go beyond Mahama,” Mr. Bagbin concluded.
Mahama
This is not the first and obviously not the last verbal lash the former president would receive after making his intention to lead his party in 2020.
Some schools of thought have opined that other flagbearer hopefuls of the NDC may gradually team up to rock the boat of Mahama.
They argue that ‘greed’ is what is bringing him back to the seat but others in the Mahama camp say, the former president is seeking another opportunity to redeem his image and to make it up to Ghanaians where he failed.
Out of the 11 who have shown interest in the topmost position of the party, Bagbin is confident he is the party’s best bet to lead it to victory in the 2020 elections.
The other suave gentlemen who have indicated their interest to lead the NDC are; Dr. Ekwow Spio Garbrah, Prof Joshua Alabi, Sylvester Mensah, Elikplim Agbemava, Kweku Ricket-Hagan, Goosie Tanoh and recently, former Kumasi mayor, Mr Kojo Bonsu among others.

The race has began and the schemes are being built but those who instead giving their are crying foul against President Mahama shows desperation . The end of year is approaching. The stakes are getting higher. This is a desperate act by Honourable BABGIN.
you don't have any message. if you stop the insults and personal attacks, the media will have time for you. for now no way.
Hon. Bagbin is right, the media are all corrupt and enjoying the freebies from John mahama and making him look like he is a flagbearer already. It is appalling that the media need money first even for them to proclaim the good works of the government! it's like Ghana media are anti-Ghana success and God is watching them all. If you do good you do for yourself. Akufo Addo will never handout Ghana's money to media men/ women for no work done but for propaganda sake when they've been employed to work and get paid, while poor and needy Ghanaian children roam on the streets for hope and survival. The media can spin and twist for john mahama but still he will lose the 2020 elections! Ghana media are nation wreckers, very unprofessional and uncivil.I get disgusted when I listen to the Akan news readers and reporters on adomfm and peacefm.Sometimes, you feel at home and want to listen to news from home, all you get is sh*t news with profane words and exaggerations, and you feel nauseous, very primitive words and uninspiring voices very disgusting and shameful. You keep on changing stations until you tired and turn the whole thing off. I don't know where they get trained and who their producers are, and don't even know if they get orientation to correct them. Very disgraceful and shameful media.
Alban Sumani Kingsford Bagbin (Honourable), This is an admission failure on your part to attract media attention. Simply put, RESIGN SINCE YOU CANNOT TACKLE. Wontumi ntaaki.
Very soon the NDC presidential candidates will be 17 and we will refer to them as the 17 th.i.e.ves..... History is repeating itself..... No it is karma coming to haunt the corrupt NDC........
