Government says it has paid over 90 percent of DKM customers who lost their monies through investment at the financial institution.
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, Deputy Information Minister, Pius Enam Hadzide explained that all those who had their monies locked up at DKM have been paid through the official government liquidator.
He explained that, as promised by the NPP during the 2016 campaign, they will ensure that all customers who lost their monies through poor banking practices will have their monies back.
"Former President Mahama should inquire before he comes out to accuse the governmnet, it looks like his handlers are not equiping him enough with adequate information about what the NPP government is doing," he said.
Though he was unable to tell when other customers of God is Love, Jesta Motors and others who have lost their monies will be paid, he promised to enquire about their status.
Former President John Mahama has charged the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to fulfil its promise to those who lost their monies in the DKM scandal which hit the Brong Ahafo region.
He said the governing party prior to the 2016 election promised it was going to retrieve monies of customers who lost their savings after investing with the microfinance company.
“When we were in office, the NPP lied that DKM belongs to my wife and I. Today you are in power and you know who DKM belongs to.
“You promised that you will collect the people’s money for them when you come into power; please collect their DKM money and give it back to them,” Mr Mahama said.
He said this while addressing delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Wamfie in the Dormaa East constituency of the Brong Ahafo Region Saturday.
According to Mr John Mahama, who is seeking to lead the opposition NDC into the 2020 election, he is surprised that nearly two years into the NPP administration, the promise is yet to be fulfilled.
In a related development, former Brong Ahafo Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Asunafo South, Eric Opoku is asking government when customers of God is Love, Jesta Motors and others will be paid.
Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he noted that the process to pay DKM customers was initiated by the NDC Government.
Background
President Nana Akufo-Addo then Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said his government will investigate issues surrounding the tier-two pension funds and the DKM scandal.
According to him, it was befuddling that the Mahama government had failed to completely deal with the issues regarding the pensions over the years.
Speaking at a rally in the Brong Ahafo region, the NPP flagbearer said his government will lift Ghana from its current state to a whole a new level, if he wins the December polls.
"I will investigate government's inability to pay the monies owned as well as investigate the DKM scandal and to ensure that there would be total restoration to all affected in both scandals".

This Minister is not only displaying ignorance about the issue,he is incompetent as well! Who put up the system you claimed is able to pay up to about 900% of the Customers?? Was it not the same JDM? This is the very process JDM started and the NPP (the then opposition) promised the already traumatized depositors that when you come to power you will refund their monies once and for all!!!. NPP even claimed the collapsed Financial Company belonged to JDM and his wife. Now You are in power arrest JDM and the Former First Lady and collect the money back to the DKM customers!! NPP's lies will be exposing them one after the other!
