A Member of the Council of State, Sam Okudzeto, has condemned the “Boot for Boot” comment made by former President John Dramani Mahama following disturbances during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election last Thursday.
He said ex-president Mahama’s comments can persuade members of the opposition NDC to take power into their own hands and act in an unlawful manner.
According to him, former President John Dramani Mahama could have engaged President Akufo-Addo in a discussion to settle the matter in a peaceful and matured way, than making incendiary comments that have the potential to cause fear and panic.
“ . . That also is irresponsibility, we respect former Presidents, and is very important that we should have former office holders still in society and they should look at themselves in that light. They are supposed to set standards for others to follow and therefore if something like this happen the former President has access to the current President . . . they should be able to sit together and talk about and see that the right thing is done and not to make provocative statements of that nature . . .” he noted.
The experienced legal practitioner, speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Monday, insisted that anybody who acts against the laws of the state must be dealt with, therefore in connection to this case he charges the media to inspect and make sure the matter is dealt with lawfully for a final result to be achieved.
"My personal view has always been that nobody is above the law; this has been my stand throughout my life and my life even as a lawyer. I have always insisted that nobody is above the law and that the law must always take its course,” he said.
Former President John Dramani Mahama while addressing some NDC supporters on a campaign tour in the Volta Region said the NDC could match the governing NPP "boot for boot" when it comes to violence.
“ . . the NDC has revolutionary roots and that when it comes to unleashing violence, nobody can beat us in unleashing violence,” he said.

Gone are the days when wisdome came with old age. Listen to the old school ful. This man is mentally ill, otherwise he would first condemn the barbaric acts of the currupt dog president. Old dwarf and lies. You have now found your voice. Leave Mahama alone. At least you should have condemned the atrocities first
we have all these so- called statesmen in this country. you may hate others but know that what is written is written. some of you feel you are more human and knowledgeable be be in the helm of affairs. when you don't get the opportunity, then hell breaks loose because you are more human than others. shameeeeee
People may hide their true colors but they cannot do that for for. The Ayawaso By election has reveal the true nature of some people who had until then were able to hide their uncivilizedd character to many Ghanaians. Many in Ghana were happy about the Ayawaso incident. Until the Police or the security forces come out to justified their intrusion into the the house of the NDC candidate many Ghanaians consider the events aroind the shooting as uncall for. Nevetheless, the response of John Mahama shows great sign of immaturity in him. His statement was irresponsible and imatured as a leader or former president. It is is not expected of him as a former president to opt for violence as his approach to resolve threats of any kind or any grievance. He must give in to wisdom call of apology from him.
