Deputy Minister of Information, Pius Enam Hadzide, has dismissed suggestions that the Finance Ministry organized a party to celebrate an economic “hat-trick”.
The Finance Ministry courted controversy when they organized a party to mark the successful Eurobond, the completion of the IMF-ECF programme and the appreciation of the Cedi, something they consider as an economic “hat-trick”.
The Sector Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, was spotted in various pictures circulated on social media holding a plate of waakye; a local delicacy. Other staff members were seen eating kenkey and fish.
Some critics wonder why this should be celebrated when the focus should be on other things. According to them, it was in bad taste and needless.
The Deputy Minister, speaking to the issue on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo’ said what the Finance Ministry organized was a staff durbar with a touch of promoting made in Ghana goods.
“It was a staff durbar; the only difference was that they were celebrating made in Ghana products, otherwise it’s nothing new. If it was a celebration, I would have spoken against it but it was not a celebration,” he said.
He, however, conceded that “management of communication around this durbar has been problematic”.

Hmmmm Ghana for you, look at the photos if truly all of them are wearing made in Ghana cloth or is just to throw dust into our eyes. Mr Information minister pls come again. Anyway its not bad for a workers to party
it must have been a slow news day! this is really news? were the press present or this is another leak or the media person at Ministry of financed shared the picture and story. Either way for all those belly-aching on such seemingly innocuous eat-about, my humble request is that you get a life.
IS IT IGNORANCE THAT IS GOADING US ON TO GIVE WRONG AND SHAMEFUL TWIST TO THIS NORMAL MANAGEMENT PRACTICE OF "STAFF DURBAR" AND ATTENDANT ITEM 13? PLEASE LETS NOT DISGRACE OURSELVES AND MAKE US LAUGHING STOCK IN THE EYES OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY? What drives us this far, politics?
Some Ghanaians talk too much. Haaaabah! Should this be an issue? We have bigger challenges as a nation and we leave that to talk about trivial issues. Who hasn't attended a staff party before as an employee? Should this be an issue? Mtcheeeew.
Pius, if you want to have a good future in politics please stop this.
Staff can have party, but the reason should not be because government has borrowed money to stabilize the cedi. It's just non sense!!!
This guy dierr, he is not fit as a deputy information minister. Nana addo needs to replace him. Apart from being a thieff and liar, he doesn't take advice too. He soo arrogant can not teachable. They way he going what happened to mustapha hamid will happen to him perrrrrrrr.
So is the president a staff of the Finance Ministry?
so what if they were celebrating hatrick.
So staff cant have a party? moreover they were eating local food, see the man holding his waakye leaf.
