The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has disclosed that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is not ready to help disband vigilantism in this country hence should be blamed if the dialogue fails.
Asiedu Nketia expressed disappointment about the outcome of the meeting saying his expectation was not met due to the demeanor of the ruling party.
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme with Kwame Nkrumah Tikesie, he stated that the government is just doing something to cover up the shame as a result of the Ayawaso West Wuguon by-election violence, therefore not interested and committed to disbanding vigilantism.
According to him “While the NDC called for a broader stakeholder engagements, the NPP maintained that the dialogue should be limited between only NPP and NDC because according to them, both parties are known to have such affiliated militia groups.
". . . but that was a total deceit and betrayal of their initial position because we all agreed to involve stakeholders prior to the meeting, so why do you turn around again saying the dialogue should be limited to only NPP, NDC,”he asserted.
He also maintained that "the opposition NDC is ever ready any day any time to dialogue on disbandment of vigilantism even though I no longer have faith in the meeting because NPP is not committed to it but rather deceiving Ghanaians to cover up their shame which I believed it is unacceptable".
He therefore urged Ghanaians to blame the NPP if the national dialogue to disband vigilante groups does not yield any positive result.

I think we heard the Peace Council reps saying that everything went well. What is Asiedu saying? Is it maturity and sense of honesty to immediately run to the press to talk about every discussions held at any meeting when nothing has been concluded? If the NDC is afraid vigilantes will be disbanded, it is their cup of tea. I trust President Akufo-Addo will legislate whether they agree to disband or not.
hahahahahaha oooooo ndc some times I wonder what kind of people join this political party, they are simply preparing the grounds to reject the vigilante disbanding but come what may they law will catch up with those goons called vigilantes, give them a hefty sentence to deter aspiring vigilantes
How long will Asiedu Nketiah blame the NPP for vigilantism? If he thinks he is going to use thugs to win election 2020, he should think again.
This Asiedu Nketia guy is a WICKED & EVIL person in Ghana who wants that always goes back. NEGLECT him and his NDC for LOOOOOONG time if possible forever!
There they go! They are preparing the grounds to scuttle the process, yet pointing accusing fingers. They're going to smuggle in the Ofosu Ampofo's case with the law as conditionality to stall the process. Disgraceful, wicked party!
NDC AND THEIR LIES, FROM THE BEGGINNING THEY WERE NOT READY TO DISCUSS THE VIGILANTE ISSUE BECAUSE WITHOUT THE CRIMINALS CALLED VIGILANTES NDC CANNOT WIN ANY ELECTION IN GHANA AGAIN.
When will Asiedu Nketia speak the truth? Are you not shamed of what you are saying? We could read that NDC is not ready.
