Deputy Commissioner of the Electoral Commission [EC], Dr Bossman Asare says the commission will go the extra mile to supervise a very credible, free and fair election in 2020.
He assured Ghanaians of the Commission’s impartiality, adding that it would maintain its transparency in the execution of its constitutional mandate.
Dr Bossman Asare said this on Wednesday, when a team of Commissioners led by the Chairperson, Mrs Jean Mensa paid a courtesy call on the Management of Despite Media Group at the Ship House, Abeka Junction in Accra.
They were accompanied by Samuel Tettey, in-charge of Operations and Deputy Commissioner of the EC in-charge of Corporate Services, Dr. Bossman Asare and other high ranking officials.
The EC’s Delegation was received jointly by the Managing Director, Dr Fadda Dickson, General Manager, Kennedy Osei, Peace FM’s morning show host, Kwami Sefa Kayi, and other news editors of the company.
Purpose of Meeting
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the partnership between the EC and Despite Media - especially in the area of information dissemination.
NDC’s Accusations
Dr Bossman Asare took the opportunity to debunked claims by the opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC] that the commission is likely to aid the incumbent, NPP to rig the 2020 elections.
“We have said on several occasions that, we [EC] are neutral so if anyone knows how to rig an election, they should tell us to see how best we can solve that before 2020.”
“Our main aim is to organize a very credible and transparent election whiles working on our budget to save the country some money,” he added.
Weak EC IT Infrastructure
Dr Bossman Asare also bemoaned how decrepit the EC’s Information Technology [IT] department is since they took office a year ago.
“We assure to get the best IT infrastructure at the lowest possible cost ahead of the 2020 election. And everything the EC is doing, we will make sure we get value for money,” he assured.
“Our IT department is nothing to talk about when you look at how big the commission is across Africa. But we are doing our possible best to revamp the pace ahead of 2020,” he said.

I always say that Ms Jean Mensa and Dr. Bossman need not to be in EC office. Dr. Bossman is not neutral. His days at Legon as a lecturer student can attest his political lineage in issues in class and any political students in Legon knows. Ms. Jean Mensa has also not inspire confidence as EC chair. NPP did similar things to Charlotte Osei thinking she was going to rigg the election for then president but we were saved by God by Akuffo Addo winning massively. Potentially conflict which could arise was save by AKuffo Addo winning. Today, what has change and NPP is supporting incompetent Ms. Jean Mensa and Dr. Bossman if the intention is not to rigg the election for ruling government. It is only out of sense and immature politicians like Wontumi, Kennedy Agyapong, John Boadu and co supporting them. God should get out John Mahama, Akuffo Addo, Wontumi, Kennedy Agyapon0g, Asiedu Nketiah if Ghana is not going to see peace in 2020. NPP/NDC DESTROYING THIS COUNTRY
Bossman Asare has gone to the EC with his arrogant attitude and character, not mindful of the words he uses. His words are not polished and he speaks like a village boy. He was a liability in the P. Science Department. It's only NPP that will promote people with such confrontational attitude. Wolves in sheep clothe.
WE HAVE ENTRUSTED OUR CONFIDENCE IN YOUR UOTFIT TO USE YOUR CONSTITUTIONAL MANDATE IN CONDUCTION OF TRANSPARENT, FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS. WE EXPECT NOTHING BUT THE BEST OF THE COMMMISSION.
