“The difference between the expectations of an Akufo-Addo government and what we have witnessed is vast. It appears we bought the latest smartphone on December 7, 2016, at Circle, and when we got home, we realised it was a bar of key soap”
The above quote is attributed to renowned Journalist Manasseh Azuri Awuni on his assessment of the Akufo-Addo led government he believes has hugely let Ghanaians down.
According to the investigative journalist in a Facebook post, he expects some honest persons within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to tell government that what they expected prior to the 2016 elections is far from what is being delivered.
“I’m sure the very honest people in the NPP will tell you they expected better from an Akufo-Addo government than what we have seen so far. You may have a point in your submissions, but I must say, if Jesus Christ had told me this was how an Akufo-Addo government was going to be, I would have doubted him”, he stated.

Because of the work I do, I meet and speak with people from different backgrounds -- the young and old, public servants and private sector players, people in government and those in opposition, politicians and civil society activists, Ghanaians and diplomats. We often discuss Ghana. I have made an observation in their general views in the past few years.
When John Mahama was president, people often said they were disappointed at the way he was running the country. They said they lost hope in the Mahama government. When Nana Akufo-Addo became president, people say they have lost hope in Ghana and have given up on our country. It appears the second one is more serious.
The difference between the expectations of an Akufo-Addo government and what we have witnessed is vast. It appears we bought the latest smartphone on December 7, 2016, at Circle, and when we got home, we realised it was a bar of key soap. Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, I'm sure the very honest people in the NPP will tell you they expected better from an Akufo-Addo government than what we have seen so far.
You may have a point in your submissions, but I must say, if Jesus Christ had told me this was how an Akufo-Addo government was going to be, I would have doubted him. Nana Akufo-Addo still has some time left to make a difference, but judging from what I have witnessed so far, I must say I'm underwhelmed. And for the first time since 2004, I'm wondering if I should vote in 2020.

Mr. Manasseh some of us are feeling the change we voted for, so if you think u know everything go on wai. ***barred word***
I definitely don't know Manasseh's criteria for assessing the Akofo Addo's government, but if performance of previous governments are the basis, then i can say that this government is the best. Giving the me that was inherited and the resources that has been available to this government, the Akofo Addo government ha done creditably well. We can also see what is going on. this is not to suggest that all is well.
I heard the Npp say they will makes SHS free, they have delivered; they said 1D1F they are delivering, 1V1D, they're delivering; create jobs, they're delivering; restoration of Nurse/Teacher allowance they have delivered; transform the railway sector, they're delivering; digitize the economy, they're delivering; issue National IDs, they are delivering; election of MMDCEs they're delivering; reduce interest rates, they've delivered; all these within our limited resources and within 21/2 years. This I think is the best govt in the 4th republic. I disagree completely with Manasseh.
I am a contractor since JAK, JEA Mills, JDM, I have never witnessed this level hardship in the country before. For almost two years I have not had a single project to execute. My colleagues are complaining the same way. So what is really happening? Well, I do not need Mr. Mannesseh to tell me the reality on the ground. We are just waiting for December, 202o to come, we will speak
Two years in power GHc14B spent on bank bail out. Remember God is love which collapsed with people's money you would have blamed government if no action was taken on the banks and u will be here saying same and yet don't see anything good to worth mentioned, free SHS, Nurses and training allowances restored etc etc. What could man do in two years? I am not comfortable with 125 ministers it is a waste of public purse but i will never regret voting for NPP and i will do same 2020.
@ADAMS,THAT IS ALL YOU NO INCOMPETENT:INCOMPETENT:INCOMPETENT. NOW WE ARE EXPERIENCE SUPPER SUPPER SUPPER INCOMPETENT. EVERYTHING FREE SHS EVERYTHING FREE SHS. AAAABA
Well said, Azure...I am not sure what we gain individually when we try to protect our political parties from being told the truth whenever they fail on their promises. For goodness sake they are there because of the people and let us stop treating them as demi-gods who are untouchable. They are to serve us and not the other way round. Let us open our minds and be patriotic than being myopic for our individual selfish goals. The west we always aspire to be like would not have gotten to where they are if they were always lied to like this and selfish individuals who get the chance to sit on our radios, tv stations and other social media platforms also perpetuate the issue by hailing them. Let us wise up and tell it to their faces so we are taken serious. Ghana deserves better.
If you are a patriotic Ghanaian who puts Ghana first before personal interest, will conclude that we have been shortchanged. You need to be truthfully as a Ghanaian to come to that hard fact as a conclusion. Note: is not about NPP or NDC but Ghana our motherland. God bless our home land called Ghana
OPERATION PROVING MANASSEH AZURE DOESN'T KNOW ANYTHING ON MY MIND. I DON'T DO POLITICS BUT IS TIME FOR ME TO FACE THIS SMALL BOY WHO CALL HIMSELF A JOURNALIST. YOU THINK YOU KNOW ALL. YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING
