"As a former President, you should speak to encourage people especially as the year goes to an end but not to describe the Sanitation Ministry as useless. A former President should not speak like that; I will not insult him but will rather urge him to speak with decorum," Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah replied former President John Mahama.
Mahama who is also the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in a Facebook Live transmission on Monday, 23rd December, 2019 said “If the President had taken it [Sanitation Ministry] as one of his promises, then he has failed very badly, especially for the fact that you have a sanitation Minister, you cannot understand what the sanitation inister is doing.”
He said when the party returns to power, “we will move the sanitation ministry back to Local Government”, adding, “I think it is one of the most useless ministries”.
“It hasn’t proven itself, it has not achieved anything in the last three years, so, we will move it back to the Local Government Ministry. We will put a deputy minister there who we will empower to make sure that the district assemblies are doing the right thing, and that they are surcharging people who keep their compound dirty or who do not keep their surroundings clean,” he further indicated.
However, in a response on Peace FM, the Sanitation Minister said per the utterances of the former President, he lacks knowledge on the works of her ministry.
She went ahead to educate John Mahama on the usefulness of the Sanitation Ministry.

How many of you commenting drink water and keep the sachet in your pocket till you get dustbin to dispose them off. It's only Ghana that we always expect someone to be doing things we're to do for us. As for former President the least said about him the better. Is he now getting the ideas after the number of years in serving and leading this country? All I see is his desire for power and nothing else.
There is no better word to describe you that's why u post and cannot write your name. So NDC nkwaseafo is your name? Bushman.
That thing call Mahama is a disgrace to all NDC politicians.
For once I agree with JDM. Nothing better has been achieved in that ministry yet the monies going there are outrageous. Nana should be careful and listen to some of these criticisms. NPP and NDC are all the same but to me in terms of governance NPP is better than the NDC. So I wish they stay a bit longer than to loose power to NDC for Ghana to go backwards again. Prof. Mills administration would have helped Ghana but death did not allow Ghanaians to see the better things he had for us. May his soul rest in peace.
Go to Kigali and see what is neat city..
Kojo I am highly disappointed in your writeup. Did you discribe the man who could be old enough to be your uncle, father, big brother ***barred word***! come on. Should I call it poor home training, or politics. I am not sure you would discribe your biological father with this unprintable words. Remember this, what goes round comes round.
So what is the use of that ministry? That is what the ex-president was asking. Stop foooooling yourself that am a full NDC. Tell me what is the use or functions of that ministry and if the sector minister is the delivering her functions.
Abena you should have insulted that idi*ot who has disgraced the seat if our government. He talks anyhow because he wasn't brought up well. If you look at that dirty woman with all her teeth gone who said she took care of him then you could see how cheap and unenlightened his father was. Akufo Addo's infancy nanny went abroad so between the 2 you see how both were brought up but in any case Akufo Addo's father and mother were schooled abroad while john mahama's father was a cert "B" teacher who got the chance to be a regional commissioner in Osagyefo's time when educated people were hard to come by. Those days they had cert"A" and "B" teachers. The cert "A" were those with 4 year training and the 2 year trainees were the cert "B" so no wonder John mahama can't talk well because he lack home training he and his aid Bawa 'duka daya' very uncultured. This is the man who think Ghana belongs to him and his family so he is coming for it, apuuuuu toooo !
If Ghanaians don’t change the way we litter around, there’s no way we can win the war against filth. Don’t we are expecting the minister to be moving from house to house cleaning and sweeping. How many time haven’t we heard adverts on sanitation. We sit in cars and throw robbers around. People intentionally defecate around beaches and so many unauthorized places. Not even Jesus Christ can solve this problem for us if continue to behave like Some animals. There were no sanitation ministries around in the olden days but our cities were clean. Our attitude towards sanitation today was seen as a TABOO, those were the days our mother were not only sweeping the houses but beyond their compounds. People used to respond positively to communal labour. It all lies on us as people. We can’t blame it on any individual
@Yaw, I am so sad with all that I have read. You guys should rather be ashamed and accept that we Ghanaians are DIRTY. Do you want the minister to come sweep the streets when we Ghanaians drink water and throw the sachets on the streets? It rains and you see someone pouring refuse in the gutter. Is it the ministry that has to clean? Guys, I am full NDC but we need to speak the truth. We should rather focus on educating our brothers and sisters to be clean. It benefits all of us be it npp or NDC
