A cocoa farmer at Kasapin in the Ahafo Region, Agya Ntow, has pleaded with the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr John Dramani Mahama, to make fertilisers free for farmers if he wins the December polls and becomes President in 2021.
Speaking at a durbar of farmers and community members during former President Mahama’s SpeakOut tour, Agya Ntow said cocoa farmers are suffering under the Akufo-Addo government.
Lamenting the challenges facing farmers in the area, Agya Ntow said: “John Mahama helped cocoa farmers when he was president; the way he even increased cocoa prices was encouraging but for close to four years now, how much money has been given to cocoa farmers? The fertilisers Mahama distributed freely to cocoa farmers is being sold today to us”.
“The opposition claimed the fertilisers were of poor quality when Mahama gave them to us for free but they were all lies. We know in 2021, John Mahama will become president and when you do, our request is that you pay particular attention to cocoa farmers and help us to prosper because the world over, farmers are the richest but the reverse is the case in Ghana.
“So, when you become president, cocoa farmers need products that can enable us harvest more cocoa. Although today, we are buying fertilisers, we know in 2021, you will give them to us for free”.
The SpeakOut initiative, according to the NDC, is a strategy to enable Mr Mahama to better-appreciate the personal desires and expectations of the people, the needs of their communities and what they consider should be the priorities of the government toward improving their standard of living and enhancing social infrastructure.

look at this azaa man all over the hinterland deceiving the illiterate folks, no wonder they hate free SHS
MAHAMA IS FUNNY. HE GOES AROUND PAYING MONEY TO SELECTED CHIEFS AND OTHERS AND ASK THEM TO TELL LIES IN HIS FAVOR. HAS HE ACTUALLY LEARNED HIS LESSONS FROM HIS LAST DEFEAT? AND ITS SEMMS ALL THOSE ARE ILLITERATES-FUNNY!
Who said fertilizer was free during Mahama's administration? My Organization use to support cocoa farmers in acquiring farm inputs for cocoa farmers since 2013.In 2013 crop year the price in the price of fertilizer in the market was Ghs 120,2014 crop year was Ghs 140,in 2015 was Ghs 150. But in 2017 we purchased a bag of fertilizer for the cocoa farmers at Ghs 80 per bag and the last one we did was last year and we purchased one bag of fertilizer for Ghs 80. So those who claim fertilizer was free during Mahama's era was rather expensive in the market than the Akuffo Addo's administration.
I thought you were going to use that opportunity to clear (wash) your dirty lining about the Airbus. SHAME!
You mean G01 is coming back to the presidency? Dats day dreaming.
Our incoming president Mahama. Please stay on track this time around. You know your job and mean well for the nation, but you are surrounded by people that are not intune with your giftings; please do away with them. If NPP had Allen Kyeremateng, the match would have been great for both of you because you are both vibrant, intelligent, and passionate personalities. Ghana would have won either way!
