General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, says it s in the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Madam Jean Mensah's own interest, to act above reproach and conduct her affairs in line with the laws of the country, and not put her trust in the powers that be.
The NDC chief scribe warned that any false hope being harboured by the EC Chairperson that any administration can come to her aid when she acts contrary to laid down rules and regulations
“If someone tells you that the machines are obsolete and you can contact the manufacturers to ascertain the veracity of that claim, but you deliberately refuse to do so and award another contract And results in the country incurring needless loss, it amounts to omission and you are culpable and liabe for prosecution.
“We have explained the law to her and so what we are saying is that if she is being backed by a certain power to do this, the day she will be hurled before the court, that power will not stand in the box with her. That is the advice we are giving to her," Johnson Asiedu Nketiah warned.
The NDC stalwart further cautioned the EC chairperson will be charged for willfully causing financial loss to the State if she goes ahead to purchase the new machines to the tune of Ghc800 million when she could have serviced the old machines for less that amount.
He was speaking in an interview with Kwame Nkrumah Tikesie on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show.
“According to the company, we can go beyond the vendor who sold the machines to us and contact the original manufacturers of the machines for assistance and that is why the two companies said they are ready to assist us if we need their help.
“…if we have this option and the EC still goes ahead to procure new gadgets at a cost of Ghc800 million, we are reminding the EC chairperson about the law on willfully causing financial loss to the state; the meaning of that law is exactly what she is about to do because before you are caught up by that law, then it means that you have done something for the country to incur loss that could have been avoided; she should know that that law awaits her”, he cautioned.

GO AHEAD AND TICKLE YOURSELF IN DREAMLAND
they are waiting for just about 18th to go to court and seek an injunction against the project. these people sleep and dream evil all the time
I get baffled and wonder how on earth reasonable people would waste time and resource to sit and listen to this kind of bufony,I can't but to tag those as bufonnies. This guy speaks like a baby.No wonder the party NDC do not stop amusing me.You have such as general secretary, that tells you the direction of the party NDC.
The NDC's hidden agenda in the old register is dead and long buried. Demonstrations upon demonstrations, press conferences upon press conferences. They have resorted to go to court, which I think is the best approach so what's is their problem?
The silly and the edoits who think Asiedu Nketia is not making sense and lets see when the dee day comes all the NPP people who want to steal this elections and cause war in this country will be jail
This consistent hullabaloo and whining is making me to think that there is something hidden in the old register.
Lost and confused, their only hope to stay in the game is to create some small distractions here and there. GO1 is broke already. The B-OO-TY from the fa. ke contracts are not flowing as expected. He cannot use those accounts connected with the AB saga as well. Party in real crises. Desperate times require desperate measure. NPP must be more proactive and play them at their level.
I do not think Asiedu Nketia will be successful with any law suit today. This s because, i do not believe any court will like to stall the ECs work which in effect means the court is takiing over the ECs work. Secondly, thiis case wiill definitely go before a judge who wiill be favourable to the current government. Who ever says judges in Ghana are selected wth any blind system iis just a joker. Jean Mensah will go through the laiid down procedure to acquire the machines so all boxes will be thicked and legal matters do no deal wth peoples feelings but the evidence is what matters in these circumstances. Note the Jake Obestebi Lamptey case. Our judges are still sychophants of political parties anyway (remember Hornynuga only a few days ago) so a politically affiliated judge will be happy to adjuducate thiis case and get a house and/or promotion anyway. The only way forward for NDC is politiical pressure but they will have to be careful as bodies are likely to be countered as Akuffo Addo will not relinquish power easily. There s a genuine threat to his continued stay in power as peoples lives have not improved but just a few who are around him. How much is the price of fuel, cement, transport, health and no one should tell me that there is free education. I still pay almost the same amount of money for the deprived as i did before the free education as they have to attend private classes when the traffic light goes of in their faces. Akuffo Addo has planted the thugs who caused the Ayawaso carnage and they wll be deployed to fght the demonstrations. Now NDC should be ready for the body bags.
Asiedu nketiah is one of the biggest ***barred word*** ***barred word*** in the world. Gone are the day's the ndc were deceiving some Ghanaians with lies . Today we are awake and no more propoganda again.
