Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Buaben Asamoa says the Akufo-Addo government has been vindicated by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) regarding the $1 billion loan facility the Bretton Woods institution recently doled out to the Government of Ghana.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) claims government massaged figures to secure the loan from the IMF.
These claims were championed by the NDC and their flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama in an attempt to besmirch President Akufo-Addo and make his government unpopular in the eyes of Ghanaians, according to the ruling party, but that was shot down by Country Director of the IMF, Dr. Albert Touna Mama over the weekend.
Dr. Touna Mama, in an interview with Joy FM on Saturday cleared the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta of tampering with the figures disclosing that ''when it comes to the data we received that we worked with, in this debate, there is nothing new that we did not know".
Contrary to the NDC claims which emanated from a fact-checking exercise by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) that the government presented different data to the IMF, the IMF Boss expounded that the 7.5 percent fiscal deficit in the IMF statement was generated by the institution itself and not the Government of Ghana, adding that what the NDC thinks is a discrepancy in the figures is actually a result of two different methodologies used in calculating deficit and international reserve.
To him, the NDC grossly erred in its interpretation of the figures.
"You need to go through the reports and understand what the figures that have been presented are . . . Our number includes these two elements (financial sector payments and energy sector payment) and we know why the Governor of the Bank of Ghana made the decision not to have these two elements in the fiscal deficits . . . When it comes to Gross International Reserve, we have our definition; definition that we think is the right one. But the Bank of Ghana also has a different understanding of what Gross International Reserve should account for. And the difference here is that Bank of Ghana accounts the Oil Fund, the Heritage Fund and the Stabilization Fund as part of Gross International Reserve and I think that point was clearly made at the beginning of the year by the Governor of the Bank of Ghana. That is the difference and that is the position that they have taken," he added.
Touching on the issue on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', the NPP Communications Director held that the explanations given by the IMF Country Director should put to rest the political arguments about the IMF 1 billion-dollar loan facility since it has been established that the government did nothing wrong.
According to him, former President John Mahama and the NDC have shot themselves in the foot.
"He (Mahama) didn't take time to read. They don't listen when we always tell them they don't read. It has been disclosed that Ghana is not the only country that benefited from the loan facility. If he had exercised a little restraint to know the world is transforming, he would not have made such a rash of it," Yaw Buaben Asamoa, Adentan MP slammed former President Mahama.

NPP'S STRATEGY IS THAT IF THEY ARE PUSHED AGAINST THE WALL, THEY CHANGE THE TOPIC AND LEAVE THE RELEVANT QUESTIONS UNANSWERED AND SET THEIR OWN QUESTIONS, AND CLAIM NOBODY UNDERSTANDS IT EXCEPT THEM. THE MAIN QUESTION IS, WHY IS THE DATA PRESENTED TO PARLIAMENT DIFFERENT FROM WHAT IS PRESENTED (ACTUALLY TWO TIMES LOWER THAN WHAT IS PRESENTED TO IMF) TO THE IMF. NOW THE NPP IS DEFENDING THE DATA PRESENTED TO IMF. NO BODY SAYS THAT IS INCORRECT. I BELIEVE THAT IS THE RIGHT ONE. HOWEVER THE ONE PRESENTED TO PARLIAMENT IS MANIPULATED TO SHOW A GOOD OUTPUT
It's not only Mahama is entire NDC. Adongo also congratulated the IMF for exposing the NPP. How he understood the interview of the IMF boss he alone can explain. NDC problem is to do propaganda so as soon as they hear thanks they lift up their Calabash. I wonder why Ghanaians are still entertaining Mahama. All those countries who got involved in these Airbus scandal have arrested those who led the country for that transaction. Mahama is walking freely campaigning to become president again. Is Ghana serious as a nation?

FOR NOW,WE WERE TOLD BY PRESIDENT THAT THE VACCINE for COVID 19 IS eat more"DAWADAWA" FROM WALEWALE. GOD BLESS GHANA AND REDEMEED US FROM THIS INEPT, MENTALLY RETARDED SLEEPING GOVERNMENT.
what deficit did you present as final figures in 2018.. you stated a different figure to parliament but presented the real figures to the IMF so what vindication are your talking about?. The IMF stated the true figures your presented...why didnt you present the same figures to parliament in 2019? You guys think we dont read huh... we all knew you exempted the financial sector and the energy sector debt from the figures you presented to parliament,,why? because of the financial management act you passed by parliament which makes the finance minister liable for exceeding the 5% margin....liars. which calculation of Deficit exempt financial and energy sector spending...this is indeed Walewale Adams Smith....super incompetency at its highest level.
Naada International Financial Reporting Standard(NIFRS) If someone ask YOU TO LOOK AT THE DATA TO SEE HOW WELL THEY ARE PERFORMING ,please verified whether it's a cooked data or falsified data. The real data is the size ,shallowness or deepness of your pocket. YOUR STANDARD OF LIVING IS THE TRUE PICTURE OF THE MUCH TOUTED DATA. You can ***barred word*** some Ghanaians with your cooked or falsified data, IMF WILL EXPOSE YOU. So in my household I have a way of calculating our debt to income ratio. I say to my wife and children our balance book is clean and they believed me. Suddenly there was some unforeseen circumstances and I had to go to my banker(IMF) for loan, my bank say to qualify, you should include all your expenditure on the loan application including those you personally foot and not disclose to members of your house because in our determination we include everything from the household income/spending. By including my side chick expenditure, now my house members know our books were not as cleaned and balanced as I claimed. Question: was I lying to my household about the true financial standing of the house or not? No big big grammar, break it down simply not IMF/BOG English please
that is your stock in trade, always somebody doesn't read, you think you are the only wise people in Ghana but you keep on making mistakes all the time and when you are caught then some body doesn't read. You think you are more knowledgeable than 30 million Ghanaians keep fooling yourself. if NDC knows that they will loose power by then, they would have listened to the advises that were coming their way during their time and do things right. Ghanaians are watching you (NPP) closely. Listen to advise and stop that arrogant live style. Be wise
Another use11ess talking machine whose only job is to spew out garbage. Never spoken anything sensible. No wonder he was not considered for any ministerial appointment.
