Renowned Journalist and Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has reiterated calls for the government to lock down the epicentres of COVID-19.
The country's Coronavirus case count has risen to 5,735 from 5,638 on Saturday evening.
According to the GHS, there has been another increase in the number of recoveries from 1,460 to 1,754.
The number of deaths now stand at 29.
Contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM’s morning show 'Kokrokoo' last Friday, Kwesi Pratt said in order to stop the spread of the virus, the government must lockdown the regions with a high prevalence of the virus.
"Lockdown epicentres now and I am not the only advocating for that..." he said.
Epicentres
The Ministry of Health (MoH) has identified, Accra and Tema in the Greater Accra Region and Kumasi and Obuasi in the Ashanti Region as the epicentres of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Ghana.
We don't believe in lockdown any longer
The Minister for Health, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu has said that the government of Ghana does not believe in the effectiveness of a lockdown as a measure to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
Speaking at a press conference by the Ministry of Information last Thursday, Mr Agyeman-Manu said lessons learnt by government after the imposition of restriction on movements in some parts of the country for a period, indicates that a lockdown is not going to help in the nation’s fight.

Where from this fascination for lockdown by Kwesi Pratt? So you can your agenda?
Massa gyae gyimmie no. You are so ***barred word*** that you arrogance will is drowning you. Must you comment and express a position on any matter even when you have no knowledge on it. How would want to think that you are more sensible than the experts.
What is it about lockdown that Kwesi Prat is so fascinated about? A decision as whether to lock down or not is not a simple medical decision. Lockdown has far-reaching implications, and one must be careful not to let such implications kill more people than the virus itself. You only take a narrow view of the situation and keep shouting lockdown, without considering all the other factors that come with it. That is disingenuous.
You can decide to lockdown the country by your self, Mr. Know all. Alternatively, you can decide to lockdown your self and your family members including your daughter who was sponsored by NDC to become a lawyer.
Mr Pratt and his NDC are only pushing for measures that will bring hardship to the people so that they can have "fuel" for their dirty propaganda. He started preaching "fear" and now he is calling for lockdown. These evil guys are even unhappy that the country is registering more recoveries from COVID 19. Left to them, many more Ghanaians should get infected with the disease, and many more should die. That will give them material to spin with, especially since they have no message for the electorate. They've failed in advance!
From putting fear in Ghanaian people to Lockdown. Pratt is experimenting. He has no clue yet he wants to comment. He does not understand issues and talking politics. Pratt, please stand for elections if you want to take decisions and stop hiding behind Journalism. Journalists must be truthful and in UK here about 400+ die each day but they are relaxing the lockdown
I am amazed by the number of illiterate intellectuals who would like to comment on every issue. They should know that there is no established correlation between lockdown and prevention of corovavirus infections.
How is your insight news paper faring. Mr social comemtator. Its only Ghana that we entertain such people. Hop from one station to another.
