Deputy Communications Officer for the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kweku Boahen, has told President Akufo-Addo to change his attitude and that of his administration to conform to his COVID-19 directives.
According to him President Akufo-Addo must instruct Jean Mensa, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) to rescind her decision to compile a new voters' register.
In an interview on UTV's 'Adekye Nsroma' political show, the NDC Communicator mentioned that he feels the current government under President Akufo-Addo is not concerned about how to tackle issues pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said the government is only interested in how to manipulate their way to remain in power for the next four years.
He told UTV that the Electoral Commission lacks 'common sense' to compile a new voter's register amid the coronavirus pandemic.
"We will not comply to any laws surrounding the compilation of a new voters' register . . . whoever has it in mind to destroy this nation will not succeed," he said.
EC relentless
The Electoral Commission of Ghana says it will definitely compile a new Voters' Register despite calls for them to reconsider due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
There have been several calls for the electoral body to only conduct a limited registration exercise instead of compiling a new voters' register.
Per the argument, the number of people that will take part in a limited registration exercise will be less than in a new voters' register and can be controlled.
Madam Sylvia Annor, Head of Public Affairs at the Commission says the compilation of a new voters' register will definitely come on.
She allayed the fears of Ghanaians who are thinking of staying away from the registration centres, saying only 25 persons will be allowed at a centre at a time.

NDC thinks it must always be their way. The NDC kicks against anything new like Fee SHS, Drones, 1V1D, 1D1F, 1D1Ambulance, Afro Turfs, Sinohydro, Senior Minister, Special Prosecutor, Ghana Card, PFJ, NADMO, Double Track, Digitalization, New Ministries and now New Voters' Register. They only duel on the status quo, as done by visionless people. Their only campaign message is we built this road, that hospital and that school which are the norm. They never campaign with measurable things like economic indicators, growth in Agriculture, Industry etc.
Where were NDC members going to get the NIA cards for the voter registration when they told their members not go and register for the NIA card?
THIS VOTER'S REGISTER IS JUST A HOAX. YOU GUYS SHOULD JUST GO OUT THERE AND REGISTER IF YOU THINK IT'S WHAT YOU THINK. ***barred word*** GOING TO BE INFECTED BECAUSE THEY ARE BLINDED BY POLITICS. GHANA OH DAABI DA. A GOVERNMENT A FEW WEEKS AGO SAID THEY CAN'T CONTINUE HELPING THE POOR BECAUSE THE ECONOMY WILL COLLAPSE AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, MILLIONS CAN BE FOUND TO COMPILE A NEW VOTERS REGISTER AND YOU HAVE THESE SAME POOR PEOPLE SUPPORTING IT. WE WILL CONTINUE TO BE IN POVERTY. AHHBA
This guy is a free talker without thoughts to what he says. Remember he fueled the Ofosu Ampofo case to its current status. We are very glad to hear the NDC will not take part of the exercise so that we shall have sanity in this country. Your boycott of PeaceFM Kokrokoo has made the program very attractive and serene so take it another level that the whole country would have the same effect. Thank my "no brain".
Very good decision! That will naturally lead to your exclusion from the process and the final register. Ghanaians will even be happy with that. You've done well
Go and burn the sea....... Another NDC m0r0n.
