Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Running Mate of ex-President John Mahama, Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), for Election 2020, has pledged her readiness to help the party to win the upcoming polls in December.
According to her, she will justify the trust and confidence reposed in her by the party’s hierarchy in selecting her as the running mate to the former President John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking at a retreat of the NDC Campaign Team, she expressed gratitude to the people of Ghana and supporters of the NDC for the overwhelming support shown her.
"I want to thank everyone who has been part of this decision. Actually, this is the first time I’m opening my mouth since Monday in public and for good reason. And really when I say thank you, I'm not using the words as Ghanaians will say by heart; I'm using them advisedly in expressing deep gratitude to everyone who's been part of this process for the repose of confidence…,” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said.
"All of us together, regardless where we are, all of us with our eyes focused on the prize, all of us focused on why we are here in the first place, closing our ranks, we know that in the spirit of NDC, we are capable of working hard and we will work hard. We will not be distracted. We will justify the confidence reposed in us and by God's grace, we shall succeed," she added.
For Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, the decision to select her as running mate, has excited many people in the country, saying "this is a decision that has excited many. It’s a decision that we intend to turn to reality and this group has a big role to play and I’m very impressed with what I have seen so far and I will leave this meeting with hope."

Well well Naana represents hopelessness. I lived through her leadership as Dean of Graduate Studies and also a VC. She couldn’t institute any meaningful agenda to improve graduate completion rate. Indeed she’s never a good example to supervisors given that her own students were completing MPhil average of five years. Her tenure as a VC was so unremarkable you don’t want to assess her. In fact nothing that her predecessor started was completed under her stewardship. I can only identify her with speed ramps. Her stay at Education Ministry is known to everyone in Ghana. Absolutely a period you don’t want to remember. Anything she’s achieved is for herself and three children. She’s completely unfit to lead.
Madam Prof it is a tall, huge and uphill place to reach. So far as this president is able to fulfil his flagship campaign which is "free boarding fees", the ndc pathway to success in this pending election is very very low.
Jane, you are day dreaming. NDC is using you as a guinea pig. They will still lose with you as Vice. They have nothing good for Ghana. John Ford Mahama and his ***barred word*** will still lose. You are not the best choice. The choice should be Alex Mould, a young and energetic for the future of NDC and Ghana. Non of the names that came up were ready for Mahama's running mate because they knew he will lose, like Kwesi said. They chose you because they wanted someone with qualification above Bawumia but forget about your Professorship, is nothing. They wanted a good economist with pedigree above Bawumia, but they didn't get that is why they choose you but it will still not work
She will win with her beauty?, what an emptiness, no message, no vision and no plans, but will win with eddy bee keke slogan.
Where is your base madam? Talk is cheap. Wait till Dr.Bawumia gets you in a debate. You will smell pepper.
