Deputy Minority Chief Whip, who is also the Member of Parliament for Banda Constituency, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim believes the 2021 population census exercise is politically motivated to favour the ruling New Patriotic Party (NDC) in the 2024 general elections.
According to him, the exercise has been designed in such a way by the Akufo-Addo government to place certain communities in other juridictions considered to be the strongholds of the ruling NPP.
“The reason why they are embarking on 2021 population census political is that they are doing it to create the 25 constituencies in the strongholds of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) before the 2024 general elections”, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim posited.
The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has scheduled the 2021 Population and Housing Census for Sunday, June 27, 2021. The census was expected to take place in 2020 but had to be rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The exercise, which will run till July 11, 2021, is meant to generate data that will be used in decision-making and planning for the development of the country and its citizens.
Currently, the Ghana Statistical Service is numbering various structures nationwide.
Speaking on Okay FM’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, the NDC MP opined that the intended census exercise has created problems in some communities as some chiefs have expressed their dissatisfaction about the arrangement which they believe is politically tinted.
He added that the next President might not be able to embark on a correct development plan for the country due to the wrongful implementation of the 2021 population census.
Whiles accusing the ruling NPP government of sidelining perceived NDC activists as enumerators and replacing them with NPP sympathizers, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim further asserted that the political connotation surrounding the 2021 population census has ‘killed’ the zeal of Ghanaians to fully show interest and participate in the exercise.
“There was a national engagement in the voter registration exercise but with the 2021 population census, on the quiet, we heard that the enumerators who were considered NDC members have been driven out and replaced with NPP members…the publicity is down as compared to the voter registration exercise because with the voter registration we all knew how the exercise was going to pan out, but not with this exercise”, he asserted.

Waawaaa mutum !
I just started 7 weeks ago and I've gotten 2 check for a total of $2,000...this is the best decision I made in a long time! "Thank you for giving me this extraordinary opportunity to make extra money from home.go to this site for more details... Open this web...... https://Www.Webcash1.Com
As far as I know, I was picked for the 2021 Population and Housing Census on merit. I saw the application process on my usual net surfing and I applied. I was called for interview on my phone. I attended the interview on the date requested. A few days later, I got another message that I was selected for a ten day training for field officers. Two days after the training my name was among those picked for the field work. I didn't know any of the trainers and/or officials of GSS. This Honorable M P is insinuating that I was picked because I am an NPP member. If he has no constructive idea to proffer,he better keep mute. The nation needs serious minds for nation building.
ThIs man also refer to himself as a MP. Very dull person who can't distinguish between national development an political party affiliation. God polish your brain and thinking so that you will be capable of thinking straight the next time you have the chance to talk. Cheap side MP
This should tell us Ghanaians that the NDC never want anything good for us, and it’s time for us to reduce them to nothing, as they have done to us by selling most of the companies Kwame Nkrumah Built for us.
I Wished someone would help me here to know why the NDC is always cynical about any policy. There are so many positive things about the national census, but Mr. Ibrahim categorically refuses to cite any one of them except gerrymandering. Any sane Ghanaian would appreciate at long last the conduct of the national census. Then, it is long overdue, considering its inevitable nature in terms of planning developmental programs and social interventions in an economy. Vice President Dr. Bawumia speaks affectionately and extensively about it incorporating the whole data in the digitalization agenda. To facilitate effective human-centered development and interventions. If the NDC lacks the competence to contribute constructively to the agenda, it better ***barred word***. Pulling your opponent down doesn't win you an election. On this note, the 2024-election is securely sealed for the NPP.
Oh oh oh Ghana, why have we brought this to ourselves, everything in Ghana is now politicize with people who are supposed to think straight and know better talking just any how aaba. Who can't people just be mute if they do not have any better thing to say?
