The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said it is a common practice around the world for a president to allow other heads of state to occasionally use his presidential jet “as part of bilateral and multilateral diplomatic relations.”
In a statement dated 30 September 2021, the ministry said it has noted with concern reservations raised by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, over the use of Ghana’s presidential jet by Liberian leader George Weah to the recent ECOWAS summit in Accra.
It said Ghanaian leaders have in previous times also benefitted from such gestures, adding Ablakwa’s “insular posture comes as a surprise”.
“In the light of the strenuous and concerted efforts by ECOWAS leaders to broker peace in the region, the Ministry finds it rather unfortunate that Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa would seek to deliberately muddy the waters with these negative comments,” the statement said.
“In the latest of such utterances, Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa sought to suggest that transporting the President of Liberia, His Excellency George Weah, aboard Ghana’s presidential jet to participate in the emergency ECOWAS Summit during the recent political crisis in Guinea, constituted an impropriety. Nothing could be further from the truth.
“It must be emphasised that the practice of sharing travel resources among West African Heads of State and high-ranking officials, is not a recent phenomenon. Indeed, in the past, some Heads of State have, in their capacity as Chair of ECOWAS, extended this courtesy,” the statement added.

What is the common sense in this? Ghanas President Hires jet to travel and gives his own to other countries for free. Eiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!! WHAT A SHOCK!!
How normal is it when the one who own the jet is renting luxurious planes at the expense of the Ghanaian taxpayer, and giving a plane he could have used to another? If he is afraid of crashing in that plane then why will he give it to weah?
This Okudzato Ablakwah will be a disaster to the ndc like Kelvin Taylor the hate and jealousy in them is too much and uncurable ! I don't really know what they gain from hate and blackmailing ! What is wrong with you and what do you want from Ghanaians ?
But it was alright for Ghana to give/gift Ghana's money to Guinea during Nkrumah's era.
