Private Legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw says Ghana’s constitution is “not an English book” to be explained 'anyhow'.
The controversial lawyer is not happy with how the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagin - to him 'wrongly' explained the constitution.
According to him, Alban Bagbin’s position does not give him the mandate to interpret the constitution.
"I was surprised at Speaker of Parliament conduct and attitude towards articles 117 and 118. He has no constitutional mandate to do so,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie'.
Maurice Ampaw was discussing the brouhaha surrounding Madina MP, Francis Sosu's pending arrest and the speaker’s recent claims that he is more ‘powerful’ than the Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

When Nana leaves the country do they swear the Speaker in as President? Please read the constitution well!
This Bagbin man is becoming something ooo. He thinks he wills power more than de elected Président abi. He should tell us how he can remove de Président as a lawyer and stop this sh i t hole talk. He is fo o o ling too much ooo.
Maurice Ampaw should come back, if Bagbin says he is number 2 , then tell us why he can't be number 2 per the 1992 constitution, if a Supreme Court judge there are 3 arms of government , i.e. Executive ( president), Legislature/ parliament ( speaker) and judiciary ( Chief Justice ) thus the Vice President has no place in these 3, then why will the same constitution charge the Vice President to act in the absence of the president and not the speaker. Is Bagbin saying that if a president dies in office it's the speaker of parliament who should take over and not the Vice President? Where was he when John Mahama was sworn in as the president when Mills died and not the then speaker of parliament? It's not about numbers, if you are number one and the people in your village are still struggling to access good schools, good roads, potable water, electricity, farming equipment like tractors, combined harvesters, planters, fertilizer etc, then what is the use of your number one. During the thanksgiving service in your village as being elected speaker of parliament, Haruna iddrisu and kyei Mensah bonsu told the whole world they have secured 35 million pounds for tarring of Bamboi-Sawla-Wa road, as at today 23/11/2021 nothing is happening on the road. This is the road linking the south of Ghana to the speakers home region, upper west region. If you can remove the president but the president can't remove you, why won't you order for work to commence on the road. If the president( number one) can order for Kyebi ( his hometown)to be given a facelift , why can't the speaker (number 2 )do same for his people too. If wishes were horses beggars will ride, hahahaaaa
