General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has said that Nana Akomea's suggestion about a "Bawumia-Alan ticket is worth considering as the party prepares to elect a flagbearer for the 2024 general elections.
According to him, though it is early days yet to make any presumptions about the Bawumia-Alan ticket, it will not be out place to consider their ticket for the 2024 general elections.
A former Director of Communications of the governing NPP, Nana Akomea, has asked the party to halt its planned presidential primaries and convince Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Alan Kyerematen to run together in the 2024 presidential election.
The two are expected to contest against each other for the first time in a keen contest. Although this will be the Vice President, Dr. Bawumia’s first attempt, Mr. Kyerematen, the current Trade and Industry Minister, has contested against Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo thrice before he was elected President in 2016.
According to Nana Akomea, the two leading candidates in the NPP presidential race meet the requirements of the north and south balance, and so taking advantage of that to allow them to run, will prevent a rancorous contest.
But speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he explained that it is the party's strong desire to win the 2024 general elections and that anything that will ensure their smooth victory is welcomed.
"The party needs a unified front for the 2024 general elections and we will consider any proposal which will enable us win the elections, and just as you have said it is too early to put it into discussion," he said.
"We are currently organizing all our elections and we will put the Bawumia-Alan ticket into proper perspective once the coast is cleared, but for now we will have to consider the party's internal elections first," he added.

I think there is so much thought in what Nana Akomea is suggesting, thus, the partnered candidateship of the Bawumia and Alan-ticket for the 2024-elections. This, I believe, is a well-thought-through strategy to break the 8-year cycle. Then, both candidates are hard-working and are playing important roles in the current administration's policy of mordernity in transforming the colonial Guggisberg economy from one of exporting raw materials to an industrial-based economy of adding value to our agricultural products. The vice President, Bawumia's grip on mordernity, to leapfrog with new technology to solve the numerous infrastructural deficits. And Alan's competence and stance on industrialization is a remarkable combination of development that will win any election in Africa.
Everybody in Ghana knows that Alan - Bawumia or Bawumia-Alan ticket is the best for the nation. The two have shown so much ingenuity towards industrialization for jobs and digitization to fight corruption and crime and also to promote efficiency. It will be a great blessing to Ghana and Africa for the two to lead Ghana after Akuffo Addo. Ghana will attract both local and foreign investors to create the condition for advancement and dramatic progress. They are not just politicians. They have all the qualities to industrialize and digitize Ghana to become a modern and a developed nation. Ghana must get rid of the old system of politicisation that we see in Asiedu Nketia and Mahatma. Every well meaning Ghanaian, irrespective of political affiliation, should support the Bawumia--Alan Presidency as Akomea, Allotey and Ben Ephson are doing already. If this succeed achieve this Bawumia - Alan government, my friends and I will come to establish our company in Ghana. But any change will send us to Ivory Coast.
The 2 are the best for the party. Combining them is fantabulous and will shake the spines of the opponent
Let them contest each other. The popular one will win. Give that person the free hand to select his vice. No hereditary issues please.
