It appears the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is lacing his boots to contest the next Presidential Primary of the ruling New Patriotic Party.
Even though he hasn’t officially declared his stance, he appears to have dropped the hint on his radio station.
Appearing on Oman Fm’s Boiling Point on Thursday, he said ‘’when the time comes, I am waiting for anybody in the party who will tell me to step down. They will see”.
The NPP fireband was visibly angry over seeming attacks by some individuals in the party accusing him of supporting Alan Kyerematen. Kennedy Agyapong hinted plans to join the Presidential race of the ruling party, for the 2024 general election.
He angrily explained that after promising to support every constituency with GHC10,000 for the constituency elections, some bigwigs in the party attacked him for pursuing the agenda of Alan Kyerematen.
He furiously replied, “If am supporting Alan is Alan, not a human being?… at the right time we will speak to the grassroots people… I will not do general donations again, I will select those I want and support them”.
The NPP Presidential race is being keenly contested by the Trade Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen and the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, with Agriculture Minister, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto among others pretending to be in the race.

Hmmmnnn, politics in Ghana defies logic. Kennedy Agyapong is one individual who has done a lot for the NPP. He's one personality who is very much concerned about the welfare of the party's grassroots. Before the 2020 elections he kept admonition those in political offices not to lose touch with the ordinary NPP supporter, they failed to heed to his advice and the results are there for all to see. How come that a party in opposition with limited resources still managed to win 169 seats out of 275 in 2016. Now in power with all the resources at it's disposal, same party with same electorate have it's seats dropping from 169 to 137. Clearly Kennedy Agyapong has been vindicated. Unfortunately we have a party where a few greedy, selfish, inward looking, full of empty pride few think they know all. Look at the embarrassment NPP is going through in parliament. As if cursed the party leadership both in government and party seems not to know what's happening. Under kufour we saw a vibrant NPP for 8 solid years. If we have 3 of the likes of Kennedy Agyapong in the NPP, party supporters would not be in their current miserable situation. Currently there is no difference between an NPP supporter and an NDC supporter. In some instances the NDC people are better off. Their consolation is that their mother is not in the kitchen. The worse of all mothers is that mother who is in the kitchen and yet his children go to sleep on a hungry stomach with the mother's stomach full to the throat. This is the current NPP for you. No wonder a party stalwart Nana Akomeah admits the NPP is currently not the most popular party in Ghana now. What the NPP leadership is failing to recognize is that they did not vote any party supporter to be elected a voter, it is the party supporters voters whose votes got them their current positions. All NPP MP's voted for Akuffo Addo to become the president, he didn't vote for all the NPP MP's to be in parliament. His one vote is in Akyem Abuakwa south and no where else. They should continue misbehaving, a certain December 7 is coming and will come.
