A former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for New Juaben North constituency says the conduct of some Members of Parliament who recently demanded the dismissal of two Ministers of Finance is “unacceptable”.
Kwadwo Boateng Agyemang described the over eighty (80) NPP MPs as “hypocrites” who are only thinking about their selfish interests.
"Andy Appiah Kubi, Eugene (Boakye) Antwi from Subin, at the beginning of this government weren't they deputy Ministers? Was Ken Ofori-Atta not their Minister? At the time didn't they know he was not up to task . . .?" he rhetorically asked.
According to him all party members and NPP parliamentarians must be honest to the situation and defend the party with their blood.
He said the current situation is as a result of the Russian/Ukraine war and the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We will not sit down for you to act in your selfish interests . . . in this era and current dispensation you are the MPs President Akufo-Addo has really taken care of in terms of all form or things, and especially because of the slim majority, so you blackmail him here and there, do they think we don't know? But because of the party interest we have also kept quiet and as a party people we are also close to the government and we know what is going on . . . the government of the day, the President has really taken care of you and you can't deny that . . ." he told Kwesi Aboagye in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show, 'Ghana Montie'.
"The party does not belong to the MPs . . . nobody asked you people to come and contest as Members of Parliament, you must know your responsibility within the party and your loyalty within the party . . . if you are not loyal to the party I beg you go and stand independent . . . " he added.
A group of over 80 MPs at a press conference led by Andy Appiah Kubi, MP for Asante Akim North called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to replace Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta and the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Charles Adu Boahen.
The MPs claimed the two Ministers must be blamed for the economic crisis in the country.

These are the calibre of people who are assisting to bring the NPP to it's knees. As a former chairman you should have known better. In 2016 the NPP complained that the voters register was bloated saying a lot of Togolese were on the register. We Went into the elections with the alleged bloated register and Akuffo Addo beat John Mahama by close to 1 million votes (53+% with 169 MP's thus a clear majority in parliament. John Mahama with getting 44%.Having won power, the electoral commissioner under John Mahama was booted out of office. The NPP brought in a new commissioner, a new voters register was compiled, we went into the 2020 elections and Akuffo Addo dropped to 51 % and John Mahama moved from his 2016 44% to 47% with the NPP MP's also dropping from 169 to 137 out of a total of 275. Akuffo Addo should have been asking himself how come that the free SHS, free water, reduced electricity charges the NPP couldn't move higher. He should have known that something was wrong somewhere, but no, he wasn't bothered. The NPP MP's do not represent themselves, they represent their constituents and if their people are suffering because of economic mismanagement, you expect them to keep quiet.? You haven't learnt from the fomena experience. Today it's an independent MP who made the NPP the majority party in parliament. Continue encouraging your MPs who are making genuine demands to contest as independent candidates. So the president's interest must over ride the national interest? Are you not ashamed that Akuffo Addo blamed late mills for 2 Ghana cedis exchanging for 1 U S dollar. Today what is the exchange rate between the cedi and the dollar. If going to parliament is that easy what stopped you from contesting the new juabeng south seat. Is Ken Ofori atta superior to any other Ghanaian? You think the 53 % of adult voters who made Akuffo Addo a president don't know what they are about. Is he going to give the goodies he's getting to the NPP when he's leaving office? Is Ken Ofori atta going to give the 1.5 % so called transaction adviser fees he's getting from every loan the government contracts to the party? What do you take Ghanaians for, ***barred word***? Don't bring yourself.
Look at the pot calling the kettle black
