Ghana Constitution 104:1 Matters in Parliament can only be determined in Parliament by Parliament according to the required voting procedure for the house. Recently in the USA Members of the House had to vote 15 times in order to obtain the required votes to elect a Speaker. In the past political parties outside the parliament of Ghana had been directly involved to elect leaders for the parties in parliament. The practice was wrong but because it was not challenged it was taken for granted and ignored. Now the autocratic attitude of Fiifi Quartey and Asiedu Nketia has brought to light the danger of ignoring the right procedure. As Cletus Avoka and some NDC MPs have challenged the unconstitutional interference of politicians outside parliament to unduly manipulate the house, both NDC and NPP must agree to correct the error. This should not become politics as usual nor NDC problem. The right thing must be done for the good of Ghana democracy. The matter must be taken to the Supreme Court if parliament fails to address the matter correctly. Gh. Const. 104:1: is very clear on any decision to be taken in parliament, if it has not been determined in another place by the constitution for the particular matter.
