Our local celebrities are girding their loins and would soon stage a massive demonstration against government for its failure to solve the unstable power supply in the country.
Celebrities like Ama K. Abebrese, Sarkodie, Edem, EL, Yvonne Nelson, Lydia Forson, Wunluv and Chris Attoh have all vented their frustration on government for failing to solve the worsening power crisis.
Despite President Mahama’s constant assurance that his administration would solve the power crisis which has been christened ‘dumsor’, some business owners also keep lamenting about the way the issue has negatively affected their businesses.
Celebrities in the movie, music and comedy industry would be led by DKB and although they are yet to set an official date for their impending ‘dumsor’ demonstration, they have promised to pressure government until the nation sees positive changes.
In an interview on Peace FM, DKB stated when the lights go off, there is no discrimination and it isn’t done based on political affiliation.
“Last time I was supposed to have a comedy show at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and it was supposed to start at 7 pm, but it started at 11 pm. This was because of the unstable power supply”, he sadly revealed.
He pleaded with people who are against the celebrity demonstration not to read meanings into the event and describe it as a political one. Our demonstration has nothing to do with politics. I personally don’t know how a political party membership card looks like. When we as celebrities perform, we don’t do it for a specific political party”, he added.
Asked if as a leader he is ready to stand any vile propaganda that emerges about him, the man known to have slapped a housemate on live TV stated that “I am not scared of the insults. I took all of them after I returned from Big Brother in 2012. I am going to lead the demonstration to hasten government’s efforts of solving the problem”, he boldly said.
“During my days at the University of Ghana, I used to lead demonstrations and I was in charge of a group by name Contingent. I lead demonstrations with people like Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Peter Otokunor”, he recounted.
With the celebrities joining forces, the nation lives to see if their efforts would impact positively on our lives.
